Cars and trucks are designed to last for hundreds of thousands of miles, but not without routine maintenance and from time to time the occasional repair.
By paying attention to how your vehicle is operating you can be sure to get to the auto repair shop before more extensive repairs are necessary.

The following are some of the most common signs of engine trouble, should you encounter any of them don't hesitate to get to the mechanic/auto shop.

Leaks
If you ever find a fluid leaking from the forward part of your car you should have a technician take a better leak. Your car uses a number of fluids to operate its various systems and it needs proper amounts of them. Oil leaks, coolant leaks and others can all be detrimental to the engine if not taken care of.

Decreased Fuel Efficiency
A decrease in fuel efficiency can be caused by a number of issues. It is important that you take your car to a shop to find out just what is wrong. Generally a quick tune up will restore your car's MPGs.

Check Engine Light
When the check engine light comes on be sure to get to the repair shop for proper diagnostics. Lots of things can trigger this light. The longer you wait the worse the problem will get and the more expensive the repairs!

Increased/Colored Exhaust Smoke
An increase in exhaust smoke, particularly colored smoke, generally indicates some sort of trouble inside the motor.
Blue smoke usually means that oil is being burnt up inside the motor.
White smoke is an indicate of an interior coolant leak and black smoke means that too much gasoline is being burned up, which can result in a number of issues.

Knocking Noise

A knocking noise arising from the hood of the vehicle often indicates worn out engine bearings. These bearings are what the moving parts of the motor rest on and they will wear out due to high mileage or poor lubrication. If they aren't serviced if could lead to engine seizure.

With the proliferation of fake parts even in accredited dealer tune ups, the best bet is to toss your car after 4 years or 50,000 kilos. Then there is less pressure to maintain right. These days you can hardly get it right.

Op. Is it advisable to repair/replace the worm bearings or to replace the engine completely when you have such knocking sounds?

Repairing/rebuilding the engine will be cheaper so far your mechanic is a Pro grin. Pray the worn out parts are replaced with an original one.
If have the money, you can always get a new/fairly used engine.
GAZZUZZ and other engine pros over to you cheesy

How about buying parts from the EU and US,? I guess that cheaper than tossing your car up after 4 years.
