Nigerian club beat FUS Rabat 1-0 in Confederation Cup

Nigerian club Rivers United on Wednesday, May 24 beat Moroccan club FUS Rabat by a lone goal in their second group game of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Rivers United are in Group A of CAF Confederation with FUS Rabat, Uganda's KCCA and Tunisia's Club Africain.

After losing their first game away at Tunisian side, Club Africain, Rivers United got their CAF Confederation Cup on track with a 1-0 win at home against FUS Rabat.

Emeka Atuloma scored in the 72nd-minute to give Rivers United all the three points.

Rivers United will be looking to finish in the top two of the group to qualify for the semifinal.

No Nigerian team has won the CAF Confederation Cup in its present format and Rivers United are hoping they can break that jinx.

Rivers United is very unreliable but congrats to them for now

Rivers United defeated Morocco FUS Rabat 1-0 in a CAF Confederation Cup match at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

The result sees all four teams in Group A of the competition tied on three points after Matchday 2, with KCCA having beaten Club African yesterday.

Nigeria’s United claimed the narrow victory thanks to a second-half strike from Emeka Atuloma, seeing them bounce back from a 3-1 loss to Club Africain earlier in the month.

Rabat came into the game confident of claiming a second win following their defeat of KCCA on Matchday 1, but the North Africans were unable to get the better of their hosts.

The teams will be in Confederation Cup action again on the first weekend of June: FUS will host Africain in Rabat for a regional derby, while KCCA will welcome Rivers United to Kampala.
