Ramadan: NSCIA Announces The Commence Of Fasting Tomorrow Saturday. by EazyFrenzy(f): 10:25pm On May 26, 2017
The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs
(NSCIA), under the leadership of its President-
General and Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alh.
Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, wishes to
inform the Nigerian Muslim Ummah that, there
was positive sighting of the crescent of Ramadan,
1438AH on the 29th of Sha’ban, 1438AH,
equivalent to 26th May, 2017. Therefore, Friday,
26th May, 2017 is the last day of Sha’ban,
1438AH.
In line with the above, His Eminence, the
President-General of NSCIA and Sultan of Sokoto,
has approved Saturday, 27th May, 2017 as the
1st day of Ramadan, 1438AH.
The Council hereby enjoins the Nigerian Muslim
Ummah to continue to promote peaceful
coexistence and unity among all the citizens of
the country.

Nigerian Muslims are to commence their
2017 Ramadan Fast on Saturday
(tomorrow), the Nigerian Supreme
Council For Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has
said.
When contacted at
7:30 PM, Friday, the Secretary General
of NSCIA, Ishaq Oloyede, a professor,
said the crescent moon has been sighted
in several locations across the country,
and that the fast would commence on
Saturday.
He said a formal announcement would
be made by the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad
Abubakar 111, who he said had
scheduled a press conference for 8:00PM
Friday.
“We wish Muslims in Nigeria and all
over the world a prayerful, meaningful
and purposeful Ramadan,” Mr. Oloyede
said.
