Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has refuted reports that it arrested 10,000 candidates during the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) test in Anambra State.

JAMB denies arrest of 10,000

The Ministry of Education yesterday released the results of the 2017 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) into 104 Federal unity schools and disclosed that two candidates from Anambra State scored the highest marks.

Acting Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Hussaini Adamu said the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu lauded the National Examination Council (NECO) for the prompt release of the results to the state's ministries of education and NECO zonal offices across the country.

Of the 80,421 candidates that registered for the examination, only 77, 512 of them actually took the examination, held on April 8, 2017 Details of the results showed that two candidates from Anambra State, Emeka-Egbuna Chinecherem C. and Onubogu Chinazom Joyce scored 189 marks out of 200 being the highest marks, while eight candidates scored the least with four marks.

Queens College, Yaba, Lagos recorded the highest subscription with 5524, while the least subscribed college was FGGC, Monguno in Borno State with only 21 candidates.

Meanwhile, the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has refuted reports that it arrested 10,000 candidates during the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) test in Anambra State.

It, however, said to set the records straight only seven suspected students were arrested for impersonation by security men during the examination.

The report further alleged that JAMB made the disclosure but said there was no disruption in any of the examination centres.

Na wa o. Those that scored 4, what did they write? Even if they shaded only one option for all questions, for instance if they shaded B alone for all the questions, they'd have a probability of scoring about 50/200 or 40/200 as the case maybe.

Lalasticlala over to you.

Anambra has recorded another success. Some people won't like this news. They will come in drones to refute it, yet results keep proving them wrong.

From exams ethics marshal

The statistics showed that Bayelsa State has the
highest number of de-recognised schools(13),
followed by Delta (12), Ondo (eight), Kaduna (seven),
Cross River (seven), Imo (seven), Plateau (six), Rivers
(six) Kogi (five) Lagos (five) Nasarawa (five), Sokoto
(four) and Anambra (four). No school was de-
recognised in Taraba, Ebonyi, Borno, Niger, Adamawa,
FCT and Yobe.
It indicated that South-south has the highest number
of de-registered schools (35.1 percent), followed by
South-west (19.3 per cent), North-central (15.7
percent), North-west (15 percent), South-east (13.2
percent), and North East (1.7 percent).

“Progress in the education sector is paralysed by the
iron grip of examination malpractice, which has
metamorphosed into virtually risk-free highly lucrative
organised criminal activity controlled by syndicates,
some of whose members are embedded in
ministries, institutions and examination bodies as
workers.
“Instead of being centres of excellence, some
educational institutions have become places where
youths are weaned on diets of fraud and dishonesty to
breed ready recruits for corruption. A good number of
principals, lecturers, teachers, supervisors, invigilators
and examination administrators entrusted with
responsibility to protect integrity of the examination
process are the very people that aid, abet and collude
to perpetrate malpractice for monetary and other
inducements,” the report said.
