Lira was in bed with Micheal almost snoring his breath out beside her. She was glued to chapter one of a book: HOW TO MAKE YOUR MARRIAGE WORK, when she heard the voice of a woman. The voice sounded like the woman was in pain. The voice attenuated almost same time it came.

She gawked at Micheal, who had perspiration all over his face despite the air conditioner was on. She stopped herself from heaving a laughter despite how amused she was. A second look at him, she felt nothing but love for the man. He appeared so harmless that she did not feel regret getting married to him again.

The voice of the woman rose again. And this time around it came as a moan and then a louder moan, forcing her to shudder. She tried waking Micheal but he just spluttered indistinct words and rolled to the other end of the bed.

She closed the book and heaved from the bed as the woman moan was becoming annoying and unbearable. She walked to the window and slowly opened the curtain.

She could not see anyone from the window but she became certain the sound was not coming from afar.

The sound died down again and Lira heaved a sigh of relief. She walked back to bed and laid down. She was about shutting her eyes when the voice ricocheted again. This time it came with grunting, like the man had joined. And it sounded like it was coming from their living room.

She smacked Micheal, "Wake up honey..." He turned angrily and opened his red eyes like he intended using them to punish her. "What is it?" He grumbled.

"Can't you hear?"
"Hear what?"
"The voices... "
"What voices?"
"The voices from our living room..."

He paused and scanned with his ears, sounds that may likely be erupting from the living room and said "I hear nothing..." He dived back to bed without looking at her twice.

Lira felt disappointed but she didn't wanted to start a quarrel with him at night, so she just raised from the bed angrily and walked to the door.

She walked slowly on the stairs leading to the living room. On reaching there, she saw no one. She looked around but no sign was a human. She exhaled and was about heading back to the room when the moan reverberated again as a piercing sharp moan this time.

She followed the sound to the window at the end of the living room. It became glaring where the moan was coming from. It was coming from their new neighbors home ---- Gabriel and Samantha. She heaved a sigh of relief but she could not stop but wonder what Gabriel does to Samantha that maddened her, making her moan erratically.

"I see no one..." A deep male voice rose from the stairs that startled her. "Hah you scared me," Lira said with her right hand on her chest, having seen it was Micheal. "What are you looking at her?" He asked. "Nothing..." She retorted.

Micheal looked at her strangely...

Gabriel was at the living room watching TV when Samantha returned from work at 9pm. "Evening honey," she yawned and kissed him on his forehead. He pretended like he was too engrossed in the TV programme he was watching to had noticed she was returning from work late.

"What happened, you two seemed so magical?"
"I lost my job and now I have lost my peace at home."
