Toyeeb Gidado, Nigeria's next great wonderkid?

Exceptional talents are hard to come by every generation but Nigeria seems to have found one for the next generation of super stars.

A certain Kanu Nwankwo and Austin Okocha were exceptional talents in the late 1900's and early 2000's for Nigeria.

Vincent Enyeama and Joseph Yobo came after them and Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho seem to be the next great things.

Nigerians need not worry because another great talent is emerging and his progress at youth level shows all the signs of a star.

Toyeeb Gidado, former captain of Nigeria U-15 team is set to become one of the brightest young talents in Nigerian football.

The 17-year-old wonderkid captained Nigeria in the U-15 African cup of nations in Bostwana while he was still 14-years in 2014.

The starlet led the young Nigerian team to the finals of the competition to be crowned champions of the U-15 AFCON tournament.

The attacking midfielder is presently a top member of Cowbell Football Academy and has shown glimpses of his talent at every opportunity given.

Unlike other Nigerian footballers, he is an ardent lover of education as he just graduated from Yabatech, Lagos with a diploma in business administration.

Not one to reject education for a celebrity life of a footballer, Gidado has noted the need for education to better himself on the pitch.

Speaking to NAIJ.com, the star said: "I feel there's a connection between football and education because you must be able to think and execute what your head tells you in matter of seconds, they're both important for a player."

He went for trials for Nigeria U-17 (Victor Osihimen and Kelechi Nwakali's set) but was shunned by the coaches due for reason unknown.

He is currently on loan to Stationery Stores and won the MVP player award in the Nigerian FA Cup competition held earlier in 2017.

According to sources close to NAIJ.com, he is negotiating a deal with Ikorodu United and could be the next breakout star from the Nigerian Premier League like the likes of Gbolahan Salami, Ahmed Musa, Mfon Udoh, Enyeama, Obinna Nwaneri and more.

Clips of him would have gone a long way to paint a picture of how good he is. Nice report and I wish the young man the best.
