The church does not speak about some topics, because the church think it is too holy to discuss or too dirty to deliberate on. One of those topics that the church has found too dirty is the topic of sex. When you stand before a congregation (a group of Christians) and tell them you want to speak on sex, you start to discover the women looking at you with swallowing eyes, even the men will start adjusting their glasses and the pastor is going to forbid you from climbing the stage again.
Some believe that speaking about sex will corrupt their children. You might even hear some of them say, “sister, we can’t allow you speak about sex to our children. Please don’t corrupt this generation.” One begin to wonder which generation they are talking about, this generation that is already corrupt or the one yet to come. If corruption will stop in the world, it must start from the church.
So many young girls and boys face the issues of sex almost every day and they find it difficult to handle them. Praise Fowowe, Deitrick Haddon, Oprah Winfrey all had molestations as kids, and they were really cheated because they knew not what to do or who to run to. Some of these people who object the teaching of sex in church may even have their children go through sex challenges now- someone or something forcing, tempting, and luring them to sex.
Teaching sex to youths in the church will bring them to the true understanding of what sex is. We live in a very curious generation that is even full with images, texts, videos and sounds of sex. If our youths don’t get to understand it from us, they are going to turn to the world and learn from them. There is this secular film released sometimes ago of a girl who couldn’t get to talk about sex with her mum and then she decided to learn from friends who professionally thought her what to do to lose her virginity.
People in church keep complaining of the prevalence of premarital sex and what has the church done to curb this act. It is better for the church to keep quiet if the church can actually not provide a solution. But there are absolutely lots of solution that the church can give and part of them is teaching the real concept of sex. Some funny parents are confident because they carry out regular vagina checks for their daughters and they never know that it is not necessary for their daughter to lose the hymen before she can be said to have lost her virginity.
Youths are becoming wiser than their parents. We have anal sex, pornography, sex chat, nude sharing, fingering, masturbation, toy use, lesbianism, gay sex, MouthAction among others as part of the sexual immoralities that happen in church today even among the older ones. It is time to teach our children especially our daughters what to do with their bodies, even in the sight of sex.
When Christ sent us into the world, He sent us to the cosmos- to the world system, to change the workd system. Let us teach our children the real things in the Church before the devil teaches them.
