taboos vary from place to place, culture to culture, the aim of this write-up is to list act/deeds that are abomination in your culture so that people will not fall victim of abominable act.

in ikwerre land, in river state, it is a taboo to have sex on the floor and it is forbidden for a woman whose husband is still alive to eat with a knife

in kuta village, in osun atate, it is a taboo to sell groundnut and pounded yam. the consequences is death

it is a taboo to sit on mortar in osogbo, osun state. anyone who sit on it will not be able to stand up again for the rest of his/her life

it is a taboo to kill/eat python in igboland and in delta state. the consequences is that the person might die of swollen and protruding stomach if he/she do not the necessary cleansing

in ogaminana, kogi state, it is a taboo to eat crocodile. the consequences, the person will have boils all over his/her head and die

in Asaba, the capital of Delta State, the sale and eating of ogbono soup across is considered a taboo. consequence the person face will swell up or might die

no king in the whole yorubaland must ever set his eyes inside the crown of his head

eating pork or consuming swine products is a taboo in hausaland. it is view to be an unclean animal according to quoran unless you are in jos where it is considered a major delicacy among Birom and other ethnic tribes in the state

it is a taboo for onikoyi clan/ family of oyo state to taste the meat of grass cutter (okete)

Agbor, an Igbo speaking part of Asaba state, the people forbid eating ram. Not only do they forbid it, it was learnt that they must not stay close to where it is being cooked.

it is a taboo to whistle in the night in igboland , it is considered to lure snakes in the home

Sales of roasted yam is not permitted in any part of Ikorodu. It is believed that doing such will bring a lot of trouble into the society. The community frowns at it and it is in the interest of the people and the entire land

hmm. mmm tiv says no Dog meat. ukwani n Isoko say no to aligator( eguana) n snail. ijaw no eat ..... complete for me. still thinking

In my village it is an abomination for a woman to serve food or water to her husband without kneeling down on both knees. And she only gets up when he says so or when he has finished drinking.

In my mum's village in umuahia abia state,its a taboo to eat any aquatic animal from the une river,during the Nigeria/Biafra civil war,Nigerian troops lost hundreds of solders to that in umuahia.all the Nigerian troops that ate the aquatic animals from the une river never left umuahia nor made it home.
