If you take an airplane without permission, it is stealing an airplane. If someone takes your car without permission, you will yell "tief, tief". Sorry he lost his life, but he was certainly a thief.

It depends... don't be quick to conclude. He clearly had access to the plane and being a student, he would have been allowed to use it. That's not the same for any random person. I won't call him a thief.

the pilot must have taken the plane without the permission of the authorities, cos they will never allow students to ply in the night. this case is similar to suntai's one, where he disregard the authorities advice and landed himself in hell.

Hmmm.... took the plane without permission?....fine. ...doesn't mean they didn't know the plane took off. He is a pilot.. not student pilot... the plane developed problems before and had to make emergency landing. Question :...why would he be flying over the Everglades at night? ..where was his destination? I strongly believe this is not the first time... flying solo? Drug runnings gone bad...and the school may very well knew about it and be a part of it.
