This has been trending online. https://www.nairaland.com/3915145/brisket-bone-not-biscuit-bone

In the age of the internet, it seems many humans have intellectually regressed instead of the other way around. Someone who knows the value of the internet used it properly and corrected the recent falsehood.

So we have smartphones but aren't so smart ourselves, that's the only reason a topic starts trending and we don't bother to quickly check Google but carry on ignorantly.

Today it's the so called proper word for a Nigerian coinage of soft bones from beef called 'biscuit bone'

So some smart by half internet user, decided that the word was brisket bone and not biscuit bone and it has as usual caught up, again with no one bothering to verify the veracity or otherwise.

Me? my data is not only for Facebook or Instagram (my two favourite apps) Google is my indispensable one, so here goes:

'Brisket is a CUT OF MEAT (emphasis mine) from the breast or lower chest of beef or veal.

The beef brisket is one of the nine beef primal cuts, though the precise definition of the cut differs internationally. The brisket muscles include the superficial and deep pectorals.

As cattle do not have collar bones, these muscles support about 60% of the body weight of standing/moving cattle. This requires a significant amount of connective tissue, so the resulting meat must be cooked correctly to tenderize the connective tissue.

According to the Random House Dictionary of the English Language, Second Edition, the term derives from the Middle English brusket which comes from the earlier Old Norse brjósk, meaning cartilage. The cut overlies the sternum, ribs and connecting costal cartilages.'

So there you have it, there's nothing like brisket bone. Whoever coined that phrase must have had a reason for that, mine would be probably the soft nature of the bones which is akin to biscuits.

Don't thank me, use your internet for intellectually stimulating questions and issues too!

Linda Ikeji needs to employ some hands to review/verify her posts. Imagine posting "Brisket and not Biscuit" yesterday just to wake up today to find out that it is actually biscuit and not brisket.

Very funny.. I am sure some LIB-Nairalanders would go and drag her for that post.

Abeg, leave our biscuit bone like that. Whoever came up with that brisket debacle should be arrested for false alarm. This is why people commit suicide.

Meanwhile can someone tell us why it's called biscuit bone?

As in Eh!!! Getting tired of Nairaland's front-page, why all these back and forth? Just this morning, IPOB visit to WH made FP and the counter thread made FP too..... Why don't the mods do a thorough research before bringing any news on FP? Are we now APC that are good in refuting news?

Op is unteachable. While you were busy defining brisket, did you bother to look up brisket bone? Check the dictionary if there is anything like biscuit bone. You will only see biscuit made in the shape of a bone . The other known biscuit bone is a form of sickness.

A brisket bone is a soft chewable bone. The image below is beef brisket bone. Biscuit bone is a corrupted version of brisket bone, Op is half smart.
