cococandy: You are right! It saddens me how this has affected every part of our lives. We want 21st century life style but we are still stuck with 17th century way of handling issues. Cultural we do not give justice rather in every situation with offer compromise. That has been the root of our problem; If a politician is indicted, he will go to his political-god-father to go and plead with whomever is in charge on his behalf. If someone commits an offence in a society, his family and elders a time even his pastors will go plead on his behalf and a compromise will be reached. A child gets violated and the accused family together with his Imam or Pastor will go beg the victim family and keep sending emissary until a compromise is reached. In the middle of all those is neither the interest of the victim ever considered. A student gets caught cheating instead of expelling the child most times the parents and family will step in to plead on his behalf, the story goes on and on. But here we are day after day wondering why our system is not working, when it has been overtaken by 17th century cultural practices. 2 Likes |

Why are they not in the custody of the police awaiting trial? The couple ought to be arrested,there is enough evidence. This isn't a matter to be left to God. Humans are capable of solving this one and it begins with them going to court. P.S. All the people saying 'ritual' should go and rest please. Not everything is spiritual. The wife had a CS and obviously can't engage in sex. I'm sure the girl was brought in to be the man's sex object before she recovers. |

This problem is common among Igbos. The women are busy mistreating the maid while the Oga of the house turns her into a sex slave.
