Google Maps has decided to favor Nigerians. It was reported that Google Maps has added more than 1000 new addresses to its Database . The new addresses are mostly based in areas like Ikeja and Ikoyi parts of Lagos State

The CEO of Google, Sundar pitchai Said this while speaking at the Google for Nigeria event in Lagos Today. He said that additions of the new addresses would help improve the search of address in these areas.


Pitchai added that “The second addition is to buildings. Google also added detailed outlines of more than a million commercial businesses. This building footprint will help users get a better understanding of the world around them.”

He also said “Google has more than 100,000 small business across leading cities in Nigeria, Like Abuja and Lagos, to help improve search experience significantly”
Pitchai said that the company took the decision because they noticed a X2 increase in the number of people using Google Map in the past year. 

“Nigeria has over 100,000 local guides, And one of them includes Samson who has added more than 700 places to the Google Maps which weren’t initially there. For instance, Google Street View is now available in Nigeria with over 10000 kilometers available in Lagos only” He Added.
