It's a commendable move that other nations have since embraced. Each branch of armed forces should have a certain degree of self sufficiency in combat matters. A shining example is the united states armed forces. The army has its own air corps, the navy has the marine corps, which is an amphibious mini branch, the SEALs for special operations & air units that fly both fixed & rotary winged aircrafts. However, the publicity is what i frown at. Special operations isn't something you go about announcing. Training should be conducted as covertly as combat ops are. The only people entitled to know are the necessary participants, organizers trainers. Even the trainees should only be alerted when they report. Also, the training emphasis should have included the ability of the successful participants to retrain others. We can't keep calling foreign mercenaries to train our military. It's not only shameful but dangerous.

Did they reveal the location of the training; it's nature or the people selected? They said a lot without saying anything. This program has actually been on for two years and the Israeli's are not the only ones involved.
The covert nature of the exercise has not been compromised. Be sure of that. And it's not over yet.

grin cheesy They are now Land Forces. Where are the Jet Fighters/Bombers? are they not suppose to carry out the training on the air as China and the rest does. Our things are always different.
These are special forces... The dreaded US SEAL is an arm of the US Navy and the are trained to operate from the sea,air and land. Air cover is not provided/operated by the SEAL team but by the other branches of the military. Let's try and be objective with our criticism and be open-minded

This is good. I never knew NAF Regiment were this trained.

You are very right. The US Army maintains its own helicopters, few transport planes and even amphibious landing crafts. The US Navy too has its own air wing that fly fighter jets and a partially independent Army (the Marines), which also has its own fighter jets and helicopters. All military units and even the CIA fly reconnaissance airplanes and drones. This gives them self sufficiency and they do not always have to wait for other arms to the military to cover their behinds.

The Nigerian military also needs to know when to talk and when to keep quiet. This sort of information should not be divulged, at least, not at this time because BH and other criminal elements could attack them during training.

The Nigerian Air Force flies attack jets and helicopters even though the profile of the jets are not really impressive.

However, even if they have high-end jets, they will still need high-end personnel to defend their bases. NAF Regiment was formed after Boko Haram attacked NAF base in Maiduguri sometimes in 2013/2014 when they destroyed some aircrafts on the ground.

Today, I don't know if the Army still has men in Air Force bases in the north but I know that members of the Armed Forces Special Forces (AFSF), a tri-service unit made men and officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force are present in Air Force bases in the north.

Or do you expect the Air Force to depend on the Army to protect their air assets. They have to do it themselves.

You should know that in warfare, the infantry forms the backbone of every military unit, which is why all military personnel are trained in infantry tactics. Cameroon and Chad for instance, do not have armored tanks but they have the infantry. Please, let's appreciate the men and officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces. Warfare is no joke. If we do not appreciate them, who will?

NK dey well armed pass Nigeria

Look at the Colonial Army making noise when they don't even have a commander in chief, and once again have to spend millions on help from Oyibo people to train them.

What war are they about to fight? None of course, just to make sure that their owners in the Western World get the resources without any much gra gra...

SMH... Im sure we forget things easily in Nigeria. The government approved and brought in South Africans as mercenary some few weeks to the 2015 elections. These guys were not here to train but to fight against the BH elements solely cos the military at that times lacked the expertise to handle the equipment and experience needed. Truth be told that decision produced some results and maybe for now we will have to rely on support from foreign powers until we can truly be self-sufficient.

All the armed forces in Nigeria has their special forces components. The army has the counterforces housed under the special warfare wing which includes the trackers, commandos, rangers et al, the navy has the SBS which can be likened the to the US Navy Seal, while the NAF has the QRF. This type of training is to further widen the horizon of its personnels in special forces oriented operations. Like you rightly said, news as such ought be Top secrets.

Sure. North Korea, like most other heavily armed countries, is a under a constant threat of war and also has another state under its constant threat of war. So it's normal that it's heavily armed.
