S4 wasn't manufactured in 2008. Infact Samsung was yet to find its place in 2008. This is the best smartphone they could come up with.

""The standard version can travel 354 kilometres on a single charge""

The time of electric cars Is still over a century away. A single charge can't even go from Lagos to abuja (around 700km) and @ 11 million, most people in the world won't afford it.
Oil will still be here for a very long time.

Can a full tank take you from Here (Lagos) to Abuja ?

You think things are bad enough as they are right? Just wait till the world no longer needs our oil. All of us youths who have stoopidly allowed our mad leaders to divide us along ethnic, religious and political party lines will realise how foolish we have been all along. The suffer no go be here. Unfortunately, e for done too late by then.

The chemical they used in producing the battery is from crude oil...dnt panic...mind u, its only cars not heavy duty engines used for industries and shipping....we cnt do without crude oil...
Electric trucks are already in production, research more. Mercedes is spearheading the electric truck race. https://www.daimler.com/products/trucks/mercedes-benz/urban-etruck.html

Don't like this model. The Model S is a beauty. Why the IPad screen shooting out. Kids can damage that easily. Exterior is cool but interior is bland compared to other models.
Cost cutting bro. The model s is way more expensive. This one is for those that cannot afford the model s... A Lexus es is way more expensive than a Corolla and they both made by Toyota.

30 mins charging is from the supercharger stations and not from home. To charge that thing full from home ur gonna need to plug it in overnight.

Exactly....they are cutting Africa from the rest of the world...if Africa won't tag along...
Very soon, maybe Somalia and a few other countries will patronise us...cos production of the cars that will use the fuel will b stopped in all the developing countries

Gasoline cars will not be completely stopped, at least not in the next 60 yrs. If the advanced countries stop it say in the next 10-20 yrs, they will still make them for developing countries and I don't mean just Africa. The same way automatic transmission has been around for a long time but some cars still leave the factory with manual transmission. It won't just die like that.

Why do u people keep saying it needs just 30 mins. Yes 30 mins will get u about 200km range but that is only possible at the supercharger stations. At home it would take like 8 hours to charge.

I am Just going to drop this here.

The developed countries always look for a way out of difficult situations; from food with green houses and genetically modified foods due to their seasons and the threat of Frost for the better part of the year to Home heaters to save them from the chills. These countries do not have crude oil and as such have enriched the oil rich African/Arab nations over the past years due to their dependent on our black Gold and what have we given them in return? Terrorism, Heightened Corruption and no recourse to develop our own countries because we have black Gold and the developed countries will pay us for it.

These countries in the late 90's and early millennial started to think in the line of bio-diesel and made engines from VW, Mercedes and a host of other reputable car companies running on 100% bio-diesel and variants that used 20%, 5% and the likes, but again they realised that in the long run they would enrich Africa and they would have to source the Jatropha, Moringa and Cassava form Africa. So they came up with the excuse that bio diesel was competing with edible food and due to their limited agricultural abilities they placed less emphasis on these engines.

Now they know that even the best countries in Africa; the likes of Kenya and South Africa still have power cuts and they probably have not power cuts in the last 50+ years, Electric is the way to go. This would save them the Billions of Dollars that would have gone to oil producing African countries and OPEC nations; Yes they solved their problem.

Instead of following them to this electric race where we would play catch up as we have played in the last 2 centuries; can we solve our problems for once? China is proof that a nation can only overtake by solving its problems. In my opinion we have all it takes, while I am not saying we should not solve our electricity problems, what we can do is use what we have ...990,000 sq kilometres of fertile land, all year round sunshine , Crude oil and a huge population; We can build our bio-diesel engines (the technology is existent), improve their electric car to carry hybrid solar panels as roofs and a host of other things. People we have the chance lets use it to our advantage.

Bros, you have spoken so well, the problem remains in capacity! The once who have the funds are busy piling it for their great grand children, while some are busy wasting it away in the clubs and with women!

We really need to move this country forward! these old men at the helm of affiars have all lost touch of the current realities.

We the youth really need to stand up, and send all these old thiving men and women back to the village. We need brains that can think 20 to 50 years away from now !!

Just like you, we need to solve our problems.

The downside of the standard version, for some Nigerian buyers, is that it won't be able to drive from Lagos to Onitsha on a single charge

Stop to recharge at Ore. The idea is to have charging stations where gas stations are presently located. 20-30 mins to full charge would be the ideal scenario.

The only problem Tesla is facing is shortage of service centers, your car breaks down, and there's no one in town who knows anything about fixing it and the closest service center is 500 miles away.

at home you charge overnight . Most of you here are mistaking a Hybrid car for a full electric car .
Those short charges are for within city centres short distances . For long distance that won't work it has to be long charge like the tesla brand. This why we do not have recharge points on the Motorways yet .

Lagos to abuja is about 700km. A 50 litre V4 will do it. Now 50 litres fuel tank will be filled with 7500.
Electric cars still have a long way to go.

Seriously??...u are comparing gear transmission in cars to the need to eliminate one of the major causes of pollution in the world..where have u been in the last decade when the shout of ozone layer depletion and green house effect has gone up....
Africa and the Saudis are the major players when it comes to crude oil recently the Koreans and more muslim Nation are joining the petroleum products decision makers...
U think this is about car production?...it more about controlling power, taking away complete leverage nd dependency of the world rulers on some sets of country....
Have u noticed how android is completely taking over, it's like a universal operating system every phone has to have..all off a sudden it all seems like we are using the same phones covered by different casing of phone maker.....brother!!...there's an "end move"with the android OS...that is a discussion for another day..
That's part of how the need for petroleum product devices will be fizzled out..an also more importantly through implementation of world wide pollution laws and sanctions....
its only time....weda it's 5,10 or 60years..it will happen..cos there's always an end game move with all these decisions...
