The Police have rescued a young man who was allegedly kept in chains for more than a year in Mushin, Lagos.

The young man’s 85-year-old grandmother alleged that the boy was mentally ill, but the Police Area Commander for Area D condemned the condition under which he had been kept.

Its only some few family that shows love and compassion to their mentally deranged family member, many are abandoned at the mercy of the public, their aged parents or traditional home out of shame, frustration and pain . I remember an experience years back when I boarded a night bus from the north, I never knew I was sitting next to a mentally incapacitated person, until I began to notice an unusual smell, slurring sounds and some not so corresponding gestures from him, immediately I called the attention of the conductor or loader. Do you know the family of the young man was comfortably sitting at another seat ? Living him to discomfort strangers and passengers who were not aware of his health condition.
