It is an established fact that the proohet would place his right hand over his left hand on his chest during prayer (not a single report of him suspending his arms).

On the head bowing issue, the view held by the majority is that the worshipper should focus his gaze on the place of prostration during QIYYAM and RUKU'U but he should look at his index finger during JASAH and TASHAHHUD.
