I think I may have fallen victim of a dubious transaction. I bought a Honda accord 2005 (EOD) and went for usual servicing only for my mechanic to tell me its a CRV engine with an EOD casing.

This is definitely fraud. please I need experts to tell me what I'm up against. What are the consequences of this on the vehicle and gear system. Thank you.

you bought vehicle as is you should have exercised due diligence to ensure you got all possible info about vehicle before paying for it.

Engines are same, but different bolt patterns for the engine mounts.

Engine should not sit properly in bay.

Did u buy it fairly used or toks? Even if u confirm dat it's a fraud, will u return it? Next time conduct ur due diligence b4 committing ur funds. Just relax & enjoy ur car. I ve seen EOD model with 4 cylinders & it's physically similar to the engine in CRV. I think some carry similar engine depending on the country of origin. I guess they are interchangeable. I don't think there's any problem. Relax

Exactly.

A few days after I collected my 4Runner, and the first time driving it as my driver was doing the driving since then, I detected that the break wasn't "breaking" as normal. I practically slid through an intersection in rain.

So I started looking inside the engine bay and I noticed that someone removed the anti lock master brake cylinder and installed a non ABS unit grin

I hail una for Nigeria cheesy

Anyways sha na "Caveat Emptor".

Take heart OP and lick your wounds because you drove the vehicle under its own power away from the seller. Or is it not so?

I took different mechanics there who never detected anything.

Re: SCAM ALERT: Honda 2005 Engine Swapped For Crv Engine by olaremint(m): 3:35am On Aug 13, 2017
Sorry poster, I need Gazzuz on this. I just bought a Ford Focus 2004 model with an automatic transmission. The problem is when accelerating the car jerks while trying to select from I assume gear 2 to and then bursts forward to probably gear 4. Then the gear indicator shows on the dashboard and then everything works fine but the lights remain on. A mechanic took it for scan and said the readings came out with gear selector switch , he took it later to a rewire who said the fibre or something has to be changed. I really need your help on this one before they scatter the mechanism of the car with trial by error. Thanks. I will post pics of the car.

Re: SCAM ALERT: Honda 2005 Engine Swapped For Crv Engine by mayor2013: 7:27am On Aug 13, 2017
There might not be any difference but am sure engine wouldn't sit well in engine bay. Take a look at your front engine mount. The bolts that would be used to hold the engine mount to the engine won't fit in properly. Spotted one recently and it wasn't funny at all Honda Accord 2005 engine inside a Honda Accord 2007. Engine was running smooth but whenever the owner speeds and wants to brake down the engine and transmission suspends itself thereby making serious vibrations all over. Front mount never fit. We had to tell owner there was nothing we could do but he insisted we had it fixed. We later settled for reconstruction for the engine mount to fit properly

if your accord looks like any of the following and is an I4 it will have same engine mount patterns and oil filter positions.

I will send the codes shortly. My mechanic is proposing we reconstruct the bolt fittings at ladipo. He said there won't be issues but mechanics can't be trusted.
