How To Make Your Kids Smarter - 10 Simple Guide by sunky97: 9:21am On Aug 21, 2017
Scientists often cite the first ten years of a child's life as the "window of opportunity."Everything at this time is critical to improving the "wiring" of a person's brain. These are the ages when the brain can form the most neural networks. Here are what to do
:

1.Don’t Read To Your Kids, Read With Them:

Got a little one who is learning to read? Don’t let them just stare at the pictures in a book while you do all the reading. Call attention to the words. Read with them, not to them. Research shows it helps build their reading skills. shared book reading is an effective vehicle for promoting the early literacy ability even of disadvantaged children when enriched with explicit attention to the development of children’s reading skills and strategies.

2.Engage them in learning music : Studies show that learning music makes kids smarter. On average, music students perform better on standardized tests and have higher overall GPAs. In one experiment, it was found that taking piano lessons even helped raised IQ significantly.

3.Always eat good breakfast : Kids who eat breakfast have better memory and longer attention spans. A child's brain needs a proper balance of nutrients such as glucose, iron, vitamin A, vitamin B, zinc, and folic acid.

Whole grain cereals and oatmeal have been found to be a better start to the day than sugary cereals like Cap'n Crunch.

With toddlers, breastfeeding has been shown to improve health and intelligence.

4.Don't deprive them of night sleep :

According to research by Sadeh the expert in this field  “A loss of one hour of sleep is equivalent to [the loss of] two years of cognitive maturation and development,”

Teens who received A’s averaged about fifteen more minutes sleep than the B students, who in turn averaged fifteen more minutes than the C’s, and so on. Missing an hour of sleep turns a sixth grader’s brain into that of a fourth grader.

5. IQ Is nothing Without Self-Discipline:

Self-discipline beats IQ at predicting who will be successful in life.

From Charles Duhigg’s excellent book The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business:

Dozens of studies show that willpower is the single most important keystone habit for individual success… Students who exerted high levels of willpower were more likely to earn higher grades in their classes and gain admission into more selective schools. They had fewer absences and spent less time watching television and more hours on homework. “Highly self-disciplined adolescents outperformed their more impulsive peers on every academic-performance variable,” the researchers wrote. “Self-discipline predicted academic performance more robustly than did IQ. Self-discipline also predicted which students would improve their grades over the course of the school year, whereas IQ did not.… Self-discipline has a bigger effect on academic performance than does intellectual talent.”

6. Learning Is An Active Process (Teach them how to learn through constant practice):

Our brains evolved to learn by doing things, not by hearing about them. This is one of the reasons that, for a lot of skills, it’s much better to spend about two thirds of your time testing yourself on it rather than absorbing it. There’s a rule of two thirds. If you want to, say, memorize a passage, it’s better to spend 30 percent of your time reading it, and the other 70 percent of your time testing yourself on that knowledge.

7. Make your kids Happy (Happy Kids = Successful Kids):

Happier kids are more likely to turn into successful, accomplished adults.

On average, happy people are more successful than unhappy people at both work and love. They get better performance reviews, have more prestigious jobs, and earn higher salaries. They are more likely to get married, and once married, they are more satisfied with their marriage.

The first step in creating happier kids is being a happy parent.

8. Teach them how to pray:

Teaching your children to pray is like teaching your children to love. Teaching them to love is teaching to appreciate themselves and everyone around them for who they are. This builds humility in them and boosts their  love for God and humanitarian activities.

Prayer is a love relationship with God. When your children learn to pray to God, they should be learning to love God and experience his love for them. We want our kids to love their heavenly Father like we want them to love us and others. Jesus prayed all the time and he was our living example of how, when and why we pray.
That is why the Apostle Paul said, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

9. Believe In Them:

Believing your kid is smarter than average makes a difference. An experiment shows that When teachers  told certain kids you are  sharper, those kids did better — even though the kids were selected at random.

Believe in them and let t.Praise good effort, not intelligence:

Your kids may be smart, but you should focus your praise on the effort they put into succeeding at tasks.

Kids who are praised on intelligence often feel it is a fixed trait, and mistakes or failures severely hurt their self-confidence.

Kids who are praised on effort often focus more on learning, and are not afraid of a challenge, or to fail and try again.
