United Nations Officials have disclosed today, Saturday, the displaced persons triggered by the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo has been counted to 4 million, in the Volatile Kasai region. The number two official at the UN's refugee agency(UNHCR), George Okoth-Obbo, said that their so responsible is to provide food and cloth for the 1.4 million who fled from their homes following the violence which has taken not less than 3,000 persons. He raised alarm for quick protection, mainly on the children “who are sleeping in conditions that are difficult to imagine” as he visited the country on a three days stay. According to the Norwegian Refugee Council, an NGO, violence between Pygmies and Bantus, in the southeastern province of Tanganyika, has made thousands to run away from their homes as the violence has lasted so long. The violence bust out after the death of a tribal Chieftain, Kamwina Nsapu, who stood against the government of President Joseph Kabila's regime in Kinshasa. The death erupted into violence that raised supposed violations of human rights, like rapes, tortures and illegal killings and enrollment of minor soldiers. Added to it, estimated 33,000 Congolese have left Kasai, running to Angola, without any possible return. “The conditions today in Kasai are such that we cannot encourage or promote the return of refugees,” Okoth-Obbo said. He also said that the country will face responsibility of over 50,000 refugees running away from conflicts in South Sudan, the Central African Republic, Rwanda and Burundi.
