Do you agree with this?
According to OAP, Michael Effiong alias Funnymouth of Kpoko Fm Warri, he said via facebook that if Nigeria wants to grow as a nation then she should be ready to remove "state of origin and local govt" whenever Nigerians do fill documents/form, because tribalism and all sorts of vices starts from there. He further wrote that the state of "state of origin" syndrome is usually used to sideline some set of people in this nation.

I don't know the dude but I totally agree with him. 'State of origin' should be replaced with 'state of recidence'.

This has been the call of most of us. But as usual, this will be ignored.

We can't remove state of origin, bcux unlike the U.S.A that have most things in common with each other, here in Nigeria we are of diverse ethnicity and believes, hence in order to avoid one party accusing the other of discrimination...state of origin has to be maintained...sometimes u have to view things from a Nigerian point of view

..Remember that Nigerians are the most diverse in the universe

Everytime talk of state of origin is in news, check what region of Nigeria the person is from. That alone says it all.

Those who are satisfied with their ancestry and ethnic homeland never care to change their state of origin, whatever it is, they are content...but check those who are troubled and ashamed of their ancestry as they bother rest of this nation about a desire to acquire new origin. Its a pity!

Why is it that it is always the SE/SS that always advocate for the removal of State of Origin? Anyways, it won't work in this country. I advocate that it stays!

Per adventure it is removed, the SW/North would be swarmed by refugees from the SE who want to enjoy our infrastructure by force. The suggestion is dead on arrival.

State of origin is not why there is tribalism in Nigeria, there was tribalism even before the creation of many states and tribalism will remain after the abolition of state if origin. Let's focus on more important stuff like our infrastructure, electricity, eradicating corruption, reviving the educational sector, agriculture etc etc etc.

Exactly, most people don't even understand fully what it's all about.

In America, the only indigenous people are the native americans (Indians- and being a native comes with added incentives and benefits), every other person is an immigrant and has no ancestral lands nor cultural values but here, the land is passed down from our ancestors. Every land has indigenous people whose lineage, family and culture can be traced back a thousand years or more to that land.

Removing state of origin will definitely do more harm than good.

It should be changed to state of residence to foster peace and unity and sense of belonging for all.

Hmmmmmmm. As far it wouldn't satisfy the interest of Yoruba or Hausa, it won't even pass 1st reading in parliament. Perish the thought please.

The guy is from akwa-ibom state. Nigeria's richest state.
The same state that feed your oduduwa region or whatever you call it.
I agree though, what he should be fighting for is resource control, not state of residence. But i guess, he is too progressive for Nigeria.

Yoruba or hausa?
This one is attaching himself to the north grin
The same yoruba that could not even make lagos a special status state.
The same north in collaboration with the rest of the south made sure that selfish bill failed.
