Mercedes-Benz is prepared to become the next automaker that will make all its products run on electricity, as they recently announced that they would be going all-electric with their entire vehicle-lineup by 2022.

This new plan by Mercedes-Benz comes after China’s gradual ban on the sale of fuel using vehicles, which means more car makers will also be making this adjustment as time goes on. Companies like Ford’s Lincoln luxury sub-brand and Volvo are already prepared to go electric by 2022 and 2019 respectively, with Ford offering variants to its gas counterpart.

In addition to this, China’s vehicle sales statistics have recently been on top at a global scale, with an impressive rate increase annually. This new effort by automakers comes to change their long term plan to focus on EV tech which China favors. Other countries like the UK and France also plan to completely stop the use of fossil fuel vehicles by 2040.
