ASUU Festivity by NosaH(m): 10:58pm On Sep 14, 2017
The prayer of every serious undergraduate is not to experience the "ASUU strike".. but sometimes, some happenings are beyond your imagination and your thinking, your might be wrong or right, your plans might not go as you draw them out..
It another season of strike. It usually comes up every 4/5 years, it becoming a ritual, every undergraduate find it difficult to understand the misery behind this, if not all undergraduate at least, those in public universities will find it difficult to decipher... meeting upon meetings, consideration upon considerations. But, the truth is that union is stronger than the Government..
Education has become a negotiation in this part of the world, there's always an x to the number of years you will spend in school, the "x" is always on unknown, maybe that one of the main reason why some Nigerians go abroad to study .. some standard schools in diaspora spend less than 4 years at undergraduate level..
Some universities in Nigeria are known to be strike driven, in fact an academic session isn't completed without going on strike, that just the tradition, if there's isn't national strike, internal strike will come up, academic calendar is always lagging behind.. in fact, for those that will gain admission in 2017, will resume around June 2018 "six months wasted!!","for some schools". university aspirants are just as confused as "the lizard nodding his head, for the things unknown to other creatures"
The compulsory "stay at home" has left undergraduate in thought of "had I known". this year ASUU festivity has left students into various activities ,some are into trade, business and internship etc some even went has far as clinching to their laptops just to get some pay before ASUU suspends their festivity... "an idle hand/mind is the devil's workshop" minutes running into hours, hours running into days, days running into weeks, weeks into rounding into months, but no traces of strike suspension, students are left with the festivity, some have become a burden in the House, some are having issues with "who is washing plate this week" who is "fetching watch this week"..Academic calendar is finding it way into summer vacation, This is the period where funny things will beginning to Happen!!
