Looking forward to the new F1 season starting next month, my bet is on the Ferrari team for both the constructors & drivers championship (Massa/Kimi), doubt if Alonso will put up a strong challenge this season in a McLaren, will miss Schumi’s presence though, he was unrivalled in bringing that competitive spirit to the circuit and arguably the best F1 driver in his generation at least judging by championships & no. of races won. Ayrton Senna remains my favourite driver, he brought real passion to the sport and was a true professional up till his very last moments…this season promises to be interesting anyway…promising F1 rookie Lewis Hamilton up in it too….

been lookin out 4 dis 4 a while now.

i've never really fancied F. Alonso much 2 & now with McClaren, somehow those 2 just don't mix. be pretty hard 2 find some1 2 rival Schumi's achievements.
i think G. Fisichella & Renault can really put up a good showin if they can put out the right car, Honda with R. Barrichello experience should be major players this season, these days, performances are much more hugely influenced by the mechanical rather than the human factors.
really looking 4ward 2 the Aussie GP!
Re: F1 Zone: Formula One Racing by jiggy250(m): 1:15pm On Mar 11, 2007
Nice one RuuDie, thought i was the only F1 fan in the house. You're right about Renault's chances, they sure will put up a good fight if they get the package right. They've looked pretty impressive in pre-season testing though still behind the Ferraris, but at least it shows they'll be competitive this season even without Alonso. Strong chances of Honda finishing among the top 3 constructors this season, remember J. Button finished (6th) ahead of team mate R. Barrichello (7th) last season, like u rightly mentioned, a lot depends on the reliability of the package - engine + tyres, team strategy too. It should be fun this season anyway, starting with the Aussie GP, guess we'll compare notes after the race, i predict a Massa win, he has outperformed Kimi in pre-season testing, his only challenge is consistency, hope he gets it right this time by continuing from where he finished off last season i.e. the win @ Brazil - one of the most inspiring & emotional races of last season if you ask me, you must have come across the official F1 site but its listed here all the same, cheers, www.formula1.com
Re: F1 Zone: Formula One Racing by RuuDie(m): 1:45pm On Mar 12, 2007
hey jiggyman, like d way u put ur analysis out; pretty indepth looks like u been followin F1 4 awhile now! i'm not a big F1 fan but with Schumi around, u just couldn't ignore d sport + dat last season was pretty intriguin with Schumi & Alonso sluggin it out all thru!
never been 2 d F1 site but i'll soon 'nuff, thanx 4 d info. i keep tabs on F1 thru Sky Sport.com - their coverage 's pretty neat.
know what
been wonderin why, 4 all their love of adventure & high-octane activity, there ain't much  American presence in F1. don't u think that's kinda odd?
Re: F1 Zone: Formula One Racing by roflmao: 5:02am On Mar 13, 2007
F1 is a different ball game to all those wack American NASCAR crap. It's an European thing. It involves more technique, strategy, driving skills, and backing technical abilities by the team than NASCAR "bull" racing where it's all just power and muscle racing, why you think Montoya chickened out? Cos the clown couldn't cut it. kitten!

Oh, and by the way Ferrari for Constructor's and Kimi or Massa for Driver's(I don't really care who wins of the two. Long as it's a drivers in the Red colours of Ferrari - though I have a slight preference for Kimi). That spanish talkative ain't winning nuthing this year. He's done. McLaren ain't shyt! He was mad lucky in 2005 and 2006 Michael let him off the hook just cos he was about to retire, more like Smoke in Biker Boyz when he let that littel "yadah, yadah" kid win just to keep his mouth shut! cool. And no one needs to worry about that English one-trick pony. He ain't in the picture. His one-off victory last year should save him the embarassment of being tagged the winless driver when his career is done at the end of this season. grin grin grin

Yes I'm an obsessed Ferrari fan cool I'm not ashamed to say it. Reds for life. And just to reiterate: It's over for the Alfonso or whatever they call him. The rulers are back!!! cool cool cool
Re: F1 Zone: Formula One Racing by RuuDie(m): 12:18pm On Mar 16, 2007
@ rof
easy man!

what do y'all think about F1 races @ nite time under artificial lights just so GP races in places like Australia, Malaysia etc could be held @ times convenient 4 the european market.

i think its a dangerous idea - like the sport ain't dangerous 'nuff wink---- visibility could be one helluva factor here!
Re: F1 Zone: Formula One Racing by jiggy250(m): 12:23pm On Mar 18, 2007
Europeans will always be the dominant force in F1 for years to come no doubt - drivers, teams, circuits, fans e.t.c., culture/history is a major factor- the sport started in Europe and quite a number of major European auto manufacturers -BMW, Mercedes, Ferrari, Renault have presence in F1 unlike the American auto manufacturers, its not just their thing. The feeder system is another factor, unlike in Europe where drivers compete in F1 structured feeder series like the F3 Euroseries and GP2 championship that are set up to groom drivers towards making the F1 cut someday, the feeder system in the US is tailored more towards feeding the NASCAR series.

I'm sure u've heard by now that Kimi won the Aussie GP despite the absence of radio communication b/w the pit & his car, heard the system failed even before the race started. Good start for Ferrari!, happy for the rookie Lewis Hamilton too, first rookie to earn a podium finish in a first race since 1946!, no mean feat. That's one driver to watch out for in the years to come. I couldnt catch the race cos of the timing difference you mentioned but i agree with you on the artificial lights thing, the sport is too dangerous for that, need to consider the fans coming to the arena as well. Poor Massa, started last from the grid but he still finished 6th, couldnt make the qualifying session due to mechanical problems, better luck next time.

Next stop is Malaysia. Lets see how things play out, a lot of people seem to have underated Alonso this season but he seems to be up to the challenge. Good for the sport, that's what we want to see, a real fight for the title not a one- horse race, hope Ferrari prevails in the end though. Cheers mate.

Re: F1 Zone: Formula One Racing by jiggy250(m): 6:57am On Apr 10, 2007
Disappointing day for the Ferraris in Malaysia, they messed it up from the start - allowing Alonso & Hamilton through in Turn 1 and the stupid mistake Massa made while attacking Hamilton, days you really miss Schumi. Anyway, its still too early to freak out but the message from Mc Laren is quite clear. Lets see how the remaining 15 races go down. Drive of the day certainly goes to L. Hamilton, he kept the Ferraris at bay - allowing Alonso to blast away, also made Massa pay dearly for that attacking move in Turn 4. Next stop is Bahrain, April 15.
Re: F1 Zone: Formula One Racing by oboywhynow: 9:53am On Apr 11, 2007
Yeah. A really disappointing day for the Scuderia. I believe Massa will bounce back later on in the season but it is not likely that he will be a Championship contender this season. Considering the drive in Malaysia, it is obvious that there is no driver on the grid comparable to Schumi. No one can shadow another driver for over 20 laps and then as soon as the driver pits, begin to lap two seconds faster all of a sudden. I really hope that Raikonnen will pull something out and make an indelible mark in Bahrain. He is a really fast driver but I don't think he has that extra reserve that Schumi had. Alonso is a good driver and with Hamilton as a team mate, it is likely that McLaren will win the constructors. I only hope that Raikonnen can win the Drivers Championship because he more than anyone else needs it this time around.
Re: F1 Zone: Formula One Racing by romeo(m): 1:51pm On Apr 11, 2007
Alonso is very a good driver even though ferrari has a better car so far but kimi and massa are no matches for Alonso and hamilton looks promising
Re: F1 Zone: Formula One Racing by roflmao: 10:51pm On Apr 11, 2007
Massa was a chump! angry Kimi would've done the job if he'd started on pole. But on side note Ferrari is just toiling with McLaren. We all know "Alfonso" and his sidekick need all the point they can scramble together at the start of the season because they both won't be seeing the Ferraris' brake lights when the anhilation begins. grin grin grin
Re: F1 Zone: Formula One Racing by romeo(m): 2:17pm On May 27, 2007
i hope you guys are watching the race now? i am doing it and Alonso and Hamilton are showing their true colours to those REDS
Re: F1 Zone: Formula One Racing by jiggy250(m): 7:23am On Jun 13, 2007
mc laren clearly has the upper hand at this stage of the season, they've been consistent esp. L. Hamilton, but we still have a long way to go. Ferrari needs to step up their game esp. on Kimi's part, just one win in six races!, is this not the same chap who won 7 races in the 2005 season? not the kind of form you expect from a ferrari no. 1 driver, even massa has 2 wins under his belt, heard the Finn has attitude as well, hardly bonds with his mechanics & technical chaps, too cold for comfort, he's not a natural leader like Schumi, something is just not right with the chap, hope he proves me wrong by the end of the season, interesting to see the rivalry b/w L. Hamilton & Alonso, my vote goes to L.H. though, think he's a better all round driver - mentality, judgement & guts, lets see how indianapolis goes down, its a make or mar race for ferrari, alonso is not comfortable on that circuit so lets hope ferrari takes advantage of that, did u see the kubica crash at Gilles Villeneuve? drove himself out of the hospital on monday, pretty close shave,
Re: F1 Zone: Formula One Racing by DisGuy: 10:42am On Jun 13, 2007
kimi is from finland, he's bound to be cold grin

good thing to Lewis Hamilton though the guy is on a roll big up to the british media over hyping him aswell i guess silverstone will be sold out this year! The guy is only 22 years old!! shocked shocked

Did you watch today`s race and see the effect of the pressure on Lewis Hamilton, but not to worry the boy has already made history and he is going to crown it of with the Win in China Plus the drivers championship title.
Re: F1 Zone: Formula One Racing by dinozzo(m): 11:45pm On Oct 07, 2007
Hamilton crashed out in china, his car went off the track and ended up in the wrong place too bad but he still leads Alonso with four points, one more race to go. Kimi is 7 points behind.

I dont think it was pressure. I would blame his competitive streak. When he was on intermediate tyres
and Raikonnen was pressuring him, he could have come in early to change tyres, but stupidly tried to hold him off.

I reckon he wanted to get the championship winning the GP, rather than jus bringing the car home.

Hamilton please no let us down we dey your back.Dont allow Fernando Alonso catch up or with Schumachers record or equal it

i agree with you but that is pressure telling on his experience level, but no shit he can still bring home the title with a win, especially as the team will now tell to just come second and the title is his. Let`s just hope he doesn`t become overly cautious.

Cheers

Haba, yes he gets some support bcuz he is black but to generalize like that is quite unfair to him, the brits love him bcause he is the only brit with a chance of excelling in his sport. Just look at ;DTiger Tim grin from tennis and the other brit racers.

The boy is good and he deserves all the praise he is getting and some.
