Unity is built by love and understanding not force. No peace of any nation is built around her arsenal. The more the arsenal, the more the wars and threats. We have to understand Nigeria is a state not a nation. A nation is a dream Nigeria may not achieve with the crop of leaders and children we have today. It's hard to unite people who have more affinity to religions, tribes than their state. Ghana and Senegal are small but more peaceful because of less concoction of nations. Nigeria has become unsafe to many people. People die in hundreds and sometimes without presidential traditional media condolence or may have forgotten because our lives mean little or nothing to him. People are afraid of fighting the right course. Those who stand out to fight are sabotaged sometimes by the people they are fighting for. In Nigeria, it has become a tradition for Fulani herdsmen to invade villages, kill and molest women. The government is comfortable with the flimsiest excuse that they're foreigners. People are threatened during elections. Calculated attempts are made to deplete the population of those who may vote against you. So no army defends unity of any state. Media unity is not unity. Unity takes root through mutual love. It is saying the obvious that more Nigerians protest inside than outside. I don't support violent protests but a call for referendum is not a crime anywhere in the world that would require rogue military force. But our brains have been reconfigured to read books from the back. We shouldn't build a prison republic by using military to silence genuine course. We may end up deadening our moral fibres. 1 Like |
