Newcastle is a nice place to live, much lower cost of living when compared to down south. Their medical sciences campus is brilliant, but I don't know about other courses. Social life in Newcastle is much better than other places in the Tyne and Wear axis, probably because a lot of 'Geordies' can never have a good time unless they get drunk first.

The good thing is the city centre is not that big so it shouldn't be much of an issue for you to find your way around.
