Unsung Heroes Of The English Premier League by medjai(m): 3:36pm On Mar 04, 2010
I think Bobby Zamora is a very good player and doesn't really get all praises he deserve. one of the few english players with flair. Probably because he is partly Spanish. he has not even won an England cap.
Re: Unsung Heroes Of The English Premier League by sinistyle(m): 4:32pm On Mar 04, 2010
Denilson Neves of Arsenal. Many Arsenal fans will tell you that Song is the one holding their midfield but truly its Denilson. I think Arsenal fans will see his importance when Fabregas leaves. He has not won any cap for Brazil too.
Re: Unsung Heroes Of The English Premier League by medjai(m): 4:38pm On Mar 04, 2010
Luka Modric (Spurs) and Hugo Rodallega (Wigan). I dont understand why modric is still at spurs. I think this guy is in the class of Messi, Ibra, Kaka and the likes. He is exceptionally gifted. He is always the first player i buy when playin football manager. Hugo Rodallega is also a very good striker but that club Wigan is just crazy. I think their manager, Martinez is the problem. Look at his goal against Astonvilla in the first match of the season. Arguably, goal of the season.
Re: Unsung Heroes Of The English Premier League by Kgdavid(m): 9:29pm On Mar 04, 2010
^^modric is not an unsung hero in the sense that he is a very good player and everyone knows it. unsung heroes would be john o'shea, jermaine jenas, stilian petrov, niko kranjcar, lee carsley and a bunch of others. these guys all put in a good shift but hardly make the headlines. especially kranjcar and petrov
Re: Unsung Heroes Of The English Premier League by medjai(m): 6:53pm On Mar 06, 2010
Matthew Taylor, Branislav Ivanovic, Chung Yong (Bolton). Brilliant players but wil never make the headlines especially Ivanovic who has been outstndin deputisin for Bosingwa. Matthew Taylor is also very good. He plays just like Gerrard and also a dead ball specialist. Chung Yong is a tireless runner and an excellent crosser of the ball and also pretty skillfull.
Re: Unsung Heroes Of The English Premier League by Kgdavid(m): 1:18am On Mar 07, 2010
been under the impression that ivanovic was basically standard issue. as in no more or less than what you would expect at chelsea. mathew taylor is ok.i think hehas mor technical skill than talent. carrick is another unsung hero

Gamst Perdesen,Chris Eagles,Steven Hunt,DIAMANTI
Re: Unsung Heroes Of The English Premier League by Kgdavid(m): 2:57pm On Mar 07, 2010
chris eagles? come on mann that dude is average
Re: Unsung Heroes Of The English Premier League by sinistyle(m): 7:33pm On Mar 07, 2010
i've always liked chris eagles. Fergie never really gave him a chance. Wilson Palacios and John Obi Mikel are unsung heroes too. These guys are arguably the best defensive midfielders in the EPL.
Re: Unsung Heroes Of The English Premier League by Kgdavid(m): 10:10pm On Mar 07, 2010
mikel the best defensive midfielder in the league?please don't say this anywhere else. even etuhu and olofinjana who both play in the english league are better than him and yet these guys would never be considered among the best defensive midfielders. palacios is good yes but there are better guys such as mascherano and essien. de jong and barry are at least as good if not better than palacios. ferguson did give eagles his chance and he showed what he could do. he is good but not quite united quality.
Re: Unsung Heroes Of The English Premier League by tayoast(m): 2:04am On Mar 08, 2010
Diamanti. they hardly mention his name.

Another is Fulham's Hangeland.

Bobby Zamora is an average player, nothing exceptional.

Modric?? def a good playa gettin d recognition he deserves, but likening him 2 Messi & co??

Hugo Rodallega?? more or less an average playa

I agree, mikel is no where near d term"defensive midfielder" BUT i dnt understand wat u mean by eagles not bein united quality. .i wonder if valencia(who by d way is an average player) is "united quality"
Re: Unsung Heroes Of The English Premier League by Kgdavid(m): 12:19pm On Mar 08, 2010
^^ this where the question of style vs efficiency comes to play.eagles is more like ronaldo without the skills or pace while valencia has almost zero skill but is quite pacy and puts in useful crosses. so while eagles is more skilful than valencia,he is not skillful enough for united but valencia makes up for his lack of skill this by using his raw pace and power. in the end valencia is more productive
Re: Unsung Heroes Of The English Premier League by Olisa4all: 1:40pm On Mar 08, 2010
U think hez more productive cos hez played many games n provided decisive crosses. . .eagles ws NEVER given d chance, unles u wanna add 2 or 3 carling cup matches & mayb d last 5 mins of a few premiership matches. . .by d way hw many burnley matches hv u watched?I've watched a few mostly against arsenal&blive me he's very skillfull n productive. .
Did anybody c DIAMANTI's goal against bolton on saturday?a truely unsung hero(tho dey lost)
Re: Unsung Heroes Of The English Premier League by Kgdavid(m): 2:19pm On Mar 08, 2010
tbh i have only watched him once at burnley and he looked like he was playin the no10 role. on second thought united maybe should have kept him around.would have been better than buyin tosic and obertan

Obertan is a good player. He needs to mature. He is a natural dribbler, check out his one on one dribbles. Tosic was not given a chance.
@ topic: Diamanti. He is also an unsung hero. He scored a sweet goal against Bolton last wekend. Pedersen? may be 2 or 3 seasons ago. Pedersen is officially a below average player now. Gary Cahill. One my favourite defenders. He is also good at scoring goals.

there are 1001 players in the sme level wiv messi, kaka and likes, its all about the media. For example, Luis Suarez( Ajax) scores like every other day in the dutch league but when Fernando Torres scores a brace, he is likened to Van Basten. When C.Ronaldo scores a freekick, the media make seem like it's something unprecedented and when Sebastian Larsson scores a brace of freekicks, they turn the other way like nothing had happened.
Modric deserves to rated with the best of the best. Another guy is Joe Hart. Everybody knows he's good but how many think he's the best? To me he is. Sebastian Larsson is another very good player. He's been very instrumental to w@ Birmingham has acheived tjis season. Rodallega proved me right yesterday. Sublime finish against Liverpool.

may be u shd mention those 'players' on d same level wit Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney 7 d likes.

1 thing is this, its not all abt goal poaching. There's this 'touch' of class that makes these players exceptional.
Another is d fact that they play for 'big' clubs & they've been able to prove how exceptional they are overtime.

U also made mention of Larsson & Rodellega?? These guys are AVERAGE playas. let them move 2 a bigger club & c them 4 wat they are.

BERBATOV is a living witness tongue
Re: Unsung Heroes Of The English Premier League by medjai(m): 1:37pm On Mar 10, 2010
A dope striker or player is a dope striker/player regardless of where he plays. Ronaldo won the world footballer of the year with PSV. so

the fact is that you have to analyze a whole lot of factors such as the strength of the league the player is playing in. good players in small leagues eventually get moves to bigger clubs where they get better coverage. some go to bigger leagues and are establish themselves as true stars where as some others go to big leagues and fade out completely. it is fallacy of cataclysmic proportions to say there are even 10 players like messi and ronaldo in world football right now.

I love this thread. I'll give this to my club's captain, Michael Dawson of Tottenham Hotspur anyday. When the season started everyone knew Ledley King and Jon Woodgate are the main guys. There was even talk of him leavin for Sunderland or something. But with the injury to those 2,he suddenly turned into the best thing since sliced bread. IMHO after Terry and Rio,no other English central defender is better, except for King and Woodgate of course!

kevin prince boateng, dunno what ghana's secret is but they need to give nigeria their secret formula for producing top notch midfielders.

I like KP Boateng. Remembered when he was at Spurs he couldn't get a game but's he actually proved since then that he's a very good player just like Jamie O'hara. Such a shame Pompey is doomed.
