Should Prostitution be made Legal in Nigeria? by Nobody: 1:25pm On Sep 26, 2017
Prostitution which is the oldest business endeavour is the occupation of engaging in sexual activity with someone for payment. The terms for payment could be either money, goods or other benefits.

In every trade there is always a product or service, vendors and customers. In this case the product is the vendor's body, the service rendered is sex and the patronisers are the customers.

Some popular reasons that leads ladies to trade their bodies for money:

Some go into prostitution in bid to be freed from poverty. There are many girls out there that they came from a poverty stricken background, the situation could be either their parents are so incapable of taking care of their children, some could be that the parent is sick and could do nothing to raise money for the children. It will then be the responsibility of the older child who could be a female child to take care of the parent, herself and the other kids. Having no other choice in her mind or better still no other easy choice, she would resort into prostitution.

Nonchalant attitude of some parents also causes their daughters going into prostitution. Some girls grew up without the care of their parents especially the mother, who is to hear out her daughter's complaints, a mother who is suppose to be a friend. Such girls tries to get advice from friends and these advises are mostly always wrong ones. These therefore lead such girls to astray.

Another reason why ladies go into prostitution is laziness. Many ladies out there want to live a flamboyant lifestyle. Wearing the latest designer's clothing and shoes, using expensive jeweleries and handbags, fixing the hairs they like, getting manicure and pedicure at the best place whenever they want it, living in a massive mansion and driving an elegant car, they so much want all of these but they are so lazy to work, earn money to have these. So they go into prostitution since they can get all these with ease from there.

Unemployment also causes some to go into prostitution. Some are willing and ready to work but there is no work. Lots of graduates are out there among those practicing prostitution and they go into prostitution because they have to survive and could not think of any other means.

Peer Pressure and being in the company of bad friends lure many into prostitution. Because of the friends some ladies follow who always have whatever they wanted.
They always depend on these friends to survive. The friends will start giving them advises to blend and start going out with them. They later find themselves in the act of prostitution.

Some engage in prostitution because hey have been sexually abused. Victims of rape or sex slavery may not see a big deal in sex after they have been abused.

And some resort into prostitution because of their high sex drive, that is they are sex addicted and they tend to believe that a man could not satisfy them sexually.

Therefore they start trying a lot of men.
Most customers patronize sex workers either because of their high sex drive, or lack of a good sex relationship that should satisfy them.

But for whatever reason should prostitution be justified and made legal as an option for income and sexual gratification?

OK not a bad mission. The stigma and morality keeps most people out of it. The other just like the cash. I doubt many girls are that into it after 5th guy.

Those calling for the Legalization of Sex work don't have conscience or good sense of reasoning...
So the best way to go about your campaign is by insulting those with a contrary view? Sweet.

As for me, I think prostitution should be legalized so as to protect the individuals (male and female) doing it. Let's face it, you can't abolish it as people will solicit sex.

Yes it should.

Government should also support prostitutes by providin' adequate accommodation, soft beds, drugs, lube, condoms, quality porn, lingerie, cuffs, webcams & fast internet connection and other basic amenities required to promote prostitution.

Prostitution can also generate lots of income for the government as regards tax.

Considering the high level of poverty in Nigeria, I don,t think it should be legalized. Most girls are into it not to derive pleasure but to make an earn means. If this government should legalize it, they may just came up one day and tell nigerians that they have fulfilled all their promises by legalizing prostitution thereby creating job opportunity for our young girls which GEJ failed to do.
