Actually I just had an idea, I had this scarf thing  that I wore for a shoot, I think it would be awesome for a swimsuit and it would sell well!

Im try to find someone who can make it, do you know anyone?

No its hard to explain without a picture, I will try to help you understand, Im into selling things that people dont usually sell, which makes my market more widespread. I have an eye for dress styles, and I know if it was made into a swim suit, maybe if i can get one person to sew it and see what people think about it then I can try to mass produce it in *limited quanties*
Which drives the prices up due to supply and demand.

The pic is on a grey scale, But the scarf is actually in purple like this

It would come down to come over the chest in a deep plunge neck attached to the bottom half of the suit, which would be solid black. (Must not over do the sexy)
The top would appear sheer, but when it gets wet you would be covered, and the suit would be halter top style, with spandex and nyclon lining so make it adaptable to swiming.

www.nairaland.com/attachments/239840_idea_JPG9a82bd4b7c5fa28e3229ad939eb9ea39

The suit in the back would be open since it is a halter but the cloth would be thick enough to hold, and i could add an option to have a chain link in the back thats stainless steel so it wont rust in the pool, and wont interact with peoples skin, while also providing pushup support for the chest.

Or I could have two options, chain link for the smaller sizes, and a thick black strap in the back across the middle for plus sizez ( in case they are anxious about back fat, which allows them to show skin they want and avoid the skin they dont)
The black strap would be better because the chests seem to be much larger and need more support.

what do you think?
Re: Would You Buy This? Swimsuit Idea, Critque Needed :) by platinumnk(f): 7:06pm On Mar 04, 2010
The halter would be more open in the chest area, with a cross over at the panties, the rear would be covered fully.
and the illusion of chest seeing through is alluring and yet not going overboard.

This is the look,I was obsessed with this suit, but the price was too steep, my RL was only 40, this one asking for 110 lipsrsealed

but this is the basic look, it is mostly sold out in stores.
I cant even find it on ebay.

i think i would rather go for the black scarf
cause it looks more sexy
but it all depends on the body wearing it
if you gat big boobs the black scarf is advisable
i think the black one will sell more but the purple isn't bad either
but no big deal really you can put it on without scarf wink
the bikini is sexy
the question is are you planning on selling them or for your personal use only?

Black scarf does look good, but I was actuall talking about implementing it into a swimsuit,
and the other swimsuits are examples of the style.

Like taking the scarf look and making a swimsuit piece from it.

The swimsuit would have the scarf style with black bottoms.

^this is more or less lingerie.

I wanted to take a fabric pattern, and have someone sew it as a one piece swimsuit  with a deep plunge down the middle, with the crossover style like the earlier suits i posted.

Hmmm, that scarf does not have any form of elastane/Lycra/stretch undecided could it work as a swimsuit?

Would make a fab sarong smiley
oh wait, you could make at top just like your swimsuit top but with a very wide elasticated band for the waist, that should hold it all together.

now i get where you are coming from
yeah i think it would really look nice implementing it into a swimsuit
but is gonna be possible if you can get a good sewer except you are one yourself
i would love the purple turned into bikini tho
looks more classic than the black but whatever rocks your boat honey kiss

That what was I thinking, I would add it in the back to it could adhere to the skin.
Kinda of like a sheer double layer, and I think they have sheer Lycra, so that when it gets wet, it wont be revealing.

The scarf wont have that much of a stretch due to the fabric, but it wont be the type of fabric from the scarf, I wanted it cloth like and swimsuit like.

You know what kinda fabric that would entail?

Actually the purple/black is the actual color, its not black, the whole pic is on a grey/black scale.

see what I was thinking, if they can make crochet swimsuits, with lyrica lining, I would think the fabric is workable on the suit.

yes or no?

Yes lots of FANCY swimsuits are like that, but the fabric would need good backing otherwise when wet you will have problems.

But yes it can work.

~Dont Know anyone who sews. . .Sowry: Going by what you've shared, here's my take on your ideas & some suggestions. . .

~Halter is usually ideal for Hourglass,Petite,Curvy/Full figured/Apple Shaped women however the Plunging neckline will prolly limit your market target. . . . .the "If's" & "Buts" been "Is is the right style for one's bodyshape" & personal choice of "how much is too much"! If it's going to look anything like the SW pic you're dying to get,I'm sold!! Me,i like just the way you've envisioned it!

~You seem to have given some thought on the style as in the moderate/full back covering. . .have you given any thought to using wooden/plastic embellishments at the back instead of Stainless steel? It wudnt hurt to toy around w/ the idea of some kind of embellished link/detail in front to bring the plunge line in a lil bit. . .

~Will there be any kind of underwire support for the well endowed woman? I know the halter will "Pull-em-up" but it's not likely it will keep it in place. . .or provide much bust support if you like

~A runching detail to hide problem areas for the plus size woman/average Jane cud work to your advantage me think! You might want to do a couple of variation on the style. . .here are some pics riding on a couple of suggestions i've mentioned. . . .

~My only Q wud be about the scarf fabric/texture. . .wud it be the same as the checked scarf draft or different?

the swimsuit would be completely lined. The problem is finding the right fabric to use. I think Mohawkchic (the queen) posted the type I would be looking for.

My First customer!!
The Halter is excellent for hourglass shapes, but i think with this style for less shapely women it will give the illusion of an hourglass, because it draws the eyes downward creating a V shape.
And for smaller women the chain in the back would be used as a support push up.

I really liked the animal print fabric, the texture is great.
For the back, I was worried about people burning in the sun, maybe ties would be better.

Though embelishments are more posh.

About chest support, Well I think the type of lyrica involved makes the difference, I would only make the suit stretchy enough to cup the chest, a soft padding wont be bad.

U mentioned ruching detail, well thats why I was implemting the crossover, by the two fabrics crossing over, then it creates the hourglass and hides flaws.
and fringes at the bottom draws eyes to the legs.

I like this design though.
though to have an effective crossover the plunge would be stopped higher to allow the fabric to cross.

^ Styles like that can be very very expensive, I am trying to remember the designer that makes a look a bit like that. They cost $$$.
Re: Would You Buy This? Swimsuit Idea, Critque Needed :) by platinumnk(f): 10:51pm On Mar 04, 2010
Matter of fact, this is more or less the design here.

The fabric crosses here too. and it also has fringes but not where I want them.

Whats expensive to you for a swimsuit? For me its 50 dols or more, the first few I posted retailed for a lil over 100 dols. lipsrsealed

the Designer for the first one I posted is Ujena
the Blue one is Carmen Marc and it also retails for 100.
Its on ebay, for 99 New,

But one thing I noticed about those swimsuits, they are few and far between.
Meaning they are expensive, but they sell.
There was only 2 on whole of ebay, not even the same color or size, and dont even mention the Ujena swimsuits, been sold out eveyrwhere.

^^@platinumnk, on occasions I wore a swimsuit in the place of a "BODY", I did this because years back bodies looked boring.

To me a swimsuit costing over £120.00 ($200.00 ish) is quite expensive.

Your right, whenever I see highend swimsuits for sale on ebay, bidders fight over them, they almost fetch full retail price.

@platinumnk, I know you have a busy and high powered job but can't you do a quick dressmakers course, they run for 2 hours,
one day a week, I have done quite a few. You would be able to run up a few samples and then see what's what.

I dont understand this statement, can u explain further?

and you're right, when those herve ledger dresses came out they were fighting for it left and right.
This weekend Im going to contact some fabric vendors and go to fabric stores for advice.

I did sew a lil in highschool, but I wouldnt want to now, I would leaving it into the hands of the profession that has eyes for details and follows instructions.

I know this lady, the was creating a long animal print coat with clear diamond like buttons for winter, I saw the coatdres in a Guess Mossimo catalog and fell in love with it, but Guess Mossimo sell only limited stock and of course it was sold out in every size. But the woman created my own and it was very beautiful, totally worth it.
