The 2017 release of World best Universities(based on research publications) by webometrics lab, Spain(1st Edition). In the African rankings University of Capetown(which is a public university) took First overall as usual. However this list is about private universities in the top 200 African rankings which showed some private universities move up the rank.

South African private universities are also conspicously absent because the Education Act of S/Africa prohibits private institutions from being registered as Universities. All S/African private institutions exist as colleges.

I see Covenant taking over American uni of Cairo because the owners of AUC cannot match the financial power of the owners of Covenant. Abuad is doing good for a university that was created in 2011 and does not have the backing of a church or any other religious organization. Not only are two Nigerian private unis there but they are also d youngest on the list.

AUC has school fees and probably some foreign grants to keep up. Covenant on the other hand as a combination of Tuition, business igr, grants and church funding. Though AUC tuition is about x 7 of Covenant yet Church funding is enough to cancel out that advantage.

Without any major academic building construction living faith gave close to 2 billion to CU this year. In 2016, they gave 5 billion for the research center. Another "billion(s)" for PG residence . In 2013 they gave another 500M for senate building and yet they are still funding about 200 students in Landmark and CU at the same time without breaking a sweat(CU will still collect the tuition fees from those on scholarship, meaning 200 students x avg of 700k). Also gave Engineering 2 billion to upgrade.
Now I don't even know much about Landmark funding.

My lecturer told me Oyedepo told them that he is ready to pay each lecturer 1000USD for any SCOPUS or Web of Science publication so that Covenant's webometric and Time ranking would soar forever. Of course many of the lecturers started publishing with crase. We having 32 departments produced over 420 publications last year exceeding unilag's 350 publications.

When it comes to financial power the LFC can rival even Lagos state and is only next to the catholic church.

There are so many sources of funding that CU is not even exploring. There are very wealthy ppl in Living Faith that would be grateful to endow CU with buildings if the opportunity arises.

I am not a living faith member but I can tell you that church they call Winners is dangerously wealthy and filled with wealthy members.

Do you know what it means for a church to be constructing a 50 billion naira stadium, 500 billion estate and two universities in Abuja and Cross river(d money for the two universities had been ready since 2011) at the SAME TIME!?

Do you know Ogun+fg has given Living faith the license to construct rail lines and and another four lane road to ayobo - Bros even Dangote go borrow money to do those project.

I dont have all the stats, but I still doubt if Convenant receive more funding than AUC. From tution alone AUC earns roughly $50M (N15B) more than CU annually.

Im reading on the institution and read that they earn about 100 endowment packages annually [minimum for a package is $50K], that more than $5M (N1.5B) annually.

They'll definitely be earning from IGR plus the school is owned by Americans and run like an American Uni ( Funding for American Colleges is MASSIVE!) .

LFC is definitely mega rich, but CU is not LFC.
