Watford defeated Arsenal with a vivacious second-half show which enabled them to turn the table in the wake of trailing at the break, securing maximum three in stoppage time.

The first half was a calm undertaking, with chances at a premium. The two sides generally levelled on possession and display, as Watford had changed to a back-three formation to coordinate their opponent.

Hornet defence had be on their toes to manage lots of perilous crosses from the Gunners but the home side shielded well to stop any chances for the visitors. Arsenal lead through a first-half header from Per Mertesacker.
