US-based Nigerian film producer and author, Chinazor Onianwah has launched a ‘Waist Beads Beauty Contest’ for his forthcoming novel, ‘Sex Promise Made, Sex Promise Kept’, set to be released next month, November 2017.

The Waist Beads Beauty Contest, sponsored by Ben Collins Production, is expected to produce models who will grace several pages of the book, including the front and back pages of the novel; and as well, bag a cash prize.

The competition is also in line to showcase the beauty of Waist Beads, an heritage, famous among many Nigerian women – It is a symbol of elegance and status. It adds colour to their waist, and portrays a different kind of beauty that leaves the lucky eyes glued like bee to honey.

According to Chinazor Onianwah, “One of the most sensual ornaments African women have adorned their bodies with since antiquity, is the waist beads. It captures a woman’s feminine qualities like no other ornament or garment.”

The contestants are expected to adorn their waist with different colours of beads while preferably in a swimwear or local costume, with their beaded back and front waistline visible.

While the winner will have her photo on the front cover of the novel, the first runner-up would have her photos on the inside front cover, the second runner-up would have her photos on the back cover and the third runner-up would have her photos on the inside back cover.

The 1st prize is N50,000.00, the 2nd prize is N30,000.00, and the 3rd prize is N20,000.00. The remaining 7 runners-up would share a cash prize of N50,000.00 equally. With the winner representing Nigeria at the All Africa Beads Beauty Contest to be announced in February 2018.
