There is this my distance cousin or relation to my late grandmother we call aunty dupe. My grandma brought her from Liberia when we were very young, because her father just died then. Her father was my grandmas younger brother. All along me and my other siblings were forced to call her aunty dupe right from day one given the fact that she was brought to Lagos to be trained by my grandmother so she immediately assumed the aunty status with all of us conscious that she is older than us

Fast forward to yesterday when she sent text to us inviting us to her 35 birthday party coming up on Saturday telling us to bring gifts for her feeling like an aunty. I read the text invite over and over again thinking she made a mistake cos I had expected she will be approaching 40.

I called her yesterday if she was not sure there was no mistake there she still sounded like an aunty feeling old and talking to her junior brother, she confirmed she will be 35 and have achieved a mile stone. I laughed and said aunty dupe I old pass you be that I was 35 in February. Come see embarrassment from my old young auntie.
