Some students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, who are observing their Industrial Training, have been thrown out of their hostel. The incident took place this morning.

According to Pascal Emeka, who was one of the affected students, “Around 11am today, the hostel supervisor of Isakaita hostel used bell to go around the hostel, telling students that he was giving us 30minutes to pack out.

We explained that most of us are doing our industrial training either in the Farm, in the case of Agric students or in schools as in the case of Education students. He insisted that he was only giving us 30 minutes to pack out.

To where, he didn’t say. We told him to give us time, so that those that went to farm can come back. Note that we paid N1k for the tempora accommodation. He said he was going to call security for us.

In less than 10minutes, UNN security came and started beating and kicking girls out of the hostel. They were shouting on us, calling us all kinds of degrading names, their favorite being prostitutes.”

This is not proper.This is what happens when a hostel supervisor ask some of the girls out and they refuse yet they are cheerful giver to other guy that comes around.

I've heard the students' account of what transpired, and until that of the security is heard before an unbiased conclusion can be reached.

Na today I know say some of us just manage sabi write. No form of schooling whatsoever. The comments so far are so appalling. Its an institution for crying out loud. They follow due process. They must have been served a notice! I insist must. Maybe the op sells kunu at the gate of the hostel dey form student.

It happened in futa way back. It turned out it was for our good.

You paid for hostel for one session. Once the session is over, you exit the hostel. Schools always give students ultimatum when to leave the halls of residence. Now if you decide to ignore the school authorities then go ahead to bribe some corrupt hall officials to extend your stay, expect whatever comes your way.

Is the school not supposed to provide accommodation for their students doing industrial training? Or is the industrial training not part of the schools curriculum? Where do they expect students who reside around that vicinity to stay?

Let those boys sue the school authorities ahhh see beating. Is there no lawyer on nairaland to take up this case

Who says they must do IT from school. You can do your IT in any city. The school is not liable to leave their hostels open for IT students. Halls of residence are to serve students when school is in session. When school is off session, they find alternate accommodation.

When ever a house rent expires and you refuse to renew it, the management will give you some time after which you decline, then the next line of action follows suit...

The school is never responsible for the well-being of any student on IT. infact, you're not expected to be in school.

If you guys actually paid for temporary accommodation then I don't see any salient reason why your belongings should be thrown apart.. This is sheer wickedness and lack of empathy... Just try to treat yourselves where needed..

Every story is always one sided for some one to wrong and the other, right. When both parties tells their story to their own side, no one will be wrong.
Until we hear from the school management, the story remains one-sided.

All those students (girls) cannot be doing IT and farm, security must have seen things at night, we all went to school people!!!

Possible...there are large scale industrial farms in Nigeria

First list just came out on Wednesday, intuition should tell them that they have to make way because the space they are occupying can be allocated to another student at any point in time.
