We all know how some Nigerian army officers assault civilians even when they’re the ones at fault, well an army captain got into trouble today in Abuja while trying to use his military on someone he didn’t know.

Twitter user @ifeagbeja, took to Twitter to share a story he heard at the mechanic’s place, and it was ignited after a lady asked an elderly man whose car she bashed ‘Do you know who I am?’.

I have experienced something like this. At the entrance which lead to state house medical center, asọ rock, and some other military facilities like their guesthouse, there is a military check point. On this day a gentleman was driving through and he was asked to come down and open his boot. He said he didn't need to come down because his boot could be opened from inside the vehicle and tried to explain that he was running late for his meeting inside.
It infuriated the military guys and they ordered him to come down of his vehicle and began to abuse him. They now said that he would not be allowed to drive to his destination, that he should park his car by the side and go on foot. He obeyed them and parked his car and while he was about embarking on his foot journey, a staff sergeant who was the incharge of the check point and was not there when the altercation started recognized him, and saluted him.
When I saw this I had a sweet sensation in my stomach because I knew shiit was about to hit the fan. The staff sergeant then ask ịga what happened. Oga said he was asked to go on foot to his destination which is about 400m on foot because he refused to come down and open his boot. At this time, you could see horror in the eyes of the other soldiers. The angry staff sergeant now told them that the man they were harassing is a lieutenant colonel.
My people, the soldiers went on their knees begging for forgiveness. They colonel insisted that he would on foot. Some other military personnel passing by joined in begging Oga. He was so calm all through, and at the end he got into his vehicle and drove off.

I was unhappy. Because I wanted to see those boys punished.

But An ARMY captain is just a small boy to Brigadier in the Officers cadre. Maybe he hasn't spent more than 6 years active service after his presidential commission into the Armed Forces, if he got his promotion when due. from 2nd-lieutenant to Lieutenant then captain.

If Army captian=Navy lieutenant

Brigadier General= Navy commodore or Air-Commodore(Red necks and STAR Generals due for Flag officers, Commanding )

Mr Military, who is a Brigadier General? He's a bloody 1 star general who has only 1 staff car, 1 orderly and a driver no escort. Unless his appointment is a big post, that's when you you can talk of him having escort... No be police be this oo wey senior officers dey get escort anyhow

However a Brig Gen. can definitely be in Abuja without a fellow captain knowing who he is, especially if the Brig Gen's unit isn't stationed in Abuja (and He might probably be on a pass).. Not all Brig Gen move around with escorts (they are entitled to a driver and an orderly) , except if he has other special positions.

To those saying a Brig Gen can't ride solo with his driver and probably an orderly hasn't met Maj Gen Maina who was GOC 3 Div Jos. That man rides out with one hilux and Ak. He hand picks an orderly for each trip he makes that doesn't require convoy. I've met calm one star generals who simply go about their business until you price their market.

I know of a Retired Major General who is well connected and currently hold one high political office in this government that if you meet him on the road, you would mistake him for ordinary civilian because of his simplicity.

And yet the Brigadier decided to take him to his barracks? As far as i know, a brigadier commands a regiment/brigade of about 5000. I will sum the division in Abuja to be about 3 for the barracks, abacha,lungi and one other barrack i can't remember the name.

That's about 2 brigadier for every barracks, which brings a total of 6. Since a Major commands a division and is expected to have two brigadier. Given how a captain which is an officer and the nature of a military work, how will he not be familiar with his other counterparts particularly his superiors of that caliber not to mention the disposition officers often have.

Now if he were on a pass and his unit not in Abuja, it would be imperative he has a driver and an orderly with his car carrying the insignia of his status in the army, isn't it? It's very unlikely the otherwise will be the case at least based on present security concerns across the nation.

He is retired. I know a retired Airforce general and former chief of air force staff who at the time he was serving barely even indulged in the perks of the military then. His wife passed on an high way due to an accident she could have flown.

Can you see simplicity is not the discuss here? It's how this particular scenario is unlikely.
