To simplify wireless connectivity between devices, Google introduced “Fast Pair,” which is now a more convenient way to connect all wireless components to Android phones using Android 6.0 Marshmallow and above.

Fast Pair uses your mobile location to detect nearby Bluetooth accessories and then automatically connect to them with one touch. It uses the Bluetooth Low Energy feature, saving battery power and even shows an image of the device you want to connect, something similar to Apple’s AirPods. When you have a direct-on device, your smartphone will recover the product image, name, and application from Google’s servers. Once the scan is complete, the user receives a priority alert by asking him to “Tap to pair” on the device. The alert contains the product name and image. Fast Pair is a much more practical way to connect with our devices than to do with Bluetooth settings, as the phone tends to have no 3.5mm audio jack, the cordless headphones are one way. For the Fast Pair to work flawlessly, accessory makers need to adopt the feature, and it’s not something we’ll see right away for all the existing gadgets. At present, supported headphones are Google Pixel Buds, Libratone Q series wireless headphones and Plantronics Voyager 8200 wireless headphones.
