TEXT: "Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business."-Acts 6:3

A lot have been written about wisdom, but I shall be writing about wisdom from a different perspective. The fear of the Lord is wisdom, Job 28:28. Wisdom is also the ability to make sensible decisions and give good advice because of the experience and knowledge that you have.

There are two kinds of wisdom: the Godkind of wisdom; and the mankind of wisdom. The Godkind of wisdom or the heavenly wisdom is pure, peaceable, gentle, and easy to be untreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. But, the mankind of wisdom or the earthly wisdom is sensual, devilish, full of bitter envying and strife, confusion and evil, James 3:13-18.

In the book of Genesis, Pharaoh had dreams, and his spirit was troubled. He called his wise men, the magicians with the earthly wisdom to explain his dream, but they could not interpret the dreams. He then sent for Joseph, the man with the heavenly wisdom or the wisdom from above. After telling his dreams to Joseph, Joseph interpreted the dreams and gave him their meanings. You can get full details of in Genesis 41.

Again, in the book of Exodus, Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh, and did as the Lord commanded them. Aaron cast down his rod and it became a serpent. The wise men of Egypt did likewise, they all cast down their rods and their rods also became serpents. But, Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods. This means that whenever the heavenly wisdom and the earthly wisdom clash, the heavenly wisdom will surely swallow up the earthly wisdom, Exodus 7:8-13.

In another instance, during the destruction of the land of Egypt. The magicians could not stand the wisdom and power that Moses exhibited, they submitted that this power of Moses is the finger of God, Exodus 8:19.

In another development, the Lord appeared to king Solomon in a dream, and gave him a kind of an open cheque, to ask anything he wanted. Solomon asked for the heavenly wisdom. Apart from giving the wisdom from above, God also gave him riches and honour, by products of the Godkind of wisdom, 1 Kings 3.

Furthermore, when king Nebuchadnezzar had dreams, his spirit was troubled, and he called the magicians, the astrologers, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans; the wise men of Babylon, to reveal his dreams and also to interpret them, but they could not. When Daniel the man, with the wisdom from above, came, he revealed and also interpreted the dreams, Daniel 2.

In addition, and still in Babylon, Belshazzar the grandson of king Nebuchadnezzar, in his pride, drank wine with the vessels that were taken out from the temple of God, when Jerusalem was destroyed by his grandfather. And a man's finger wrote on the wall. He called his wise men: the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers to interpret the writings on the wall, but they could not. However, Daniel, the man with the Godkind of wisdom, was sent for, and when he came, he interpreted the writings on the wall. Details can be read in the book of Daniel 5.

Finally, when the men of synagogue: the Libertines, and the Cyrenians, and the Alexandrians, and men of Asia and of Cilicia could not resist the wisdom with which Stephen was ministering. They paid some men to bear false witness against him, Acts 6:8-15.

In summary, what the earthly wisdom cannot do, the heavenly wisdom can do even much more. The Godkind of wisdom can interpret a dream. The wisdom from above can also reveal and interpret a dream. Riches and honour are by products of the wisdom of God. The mankind of wisdom cannot resist the Godkind of wisdom. Go for the wisdom from above, and it shall be well with you.
