Apart from Brazil group, this is by far the easiest we can probably get. Let our football administrators get to work and make hay while sun shines. There should be no fire brigade approach that has characterised us. Enough grade A friendlies for the boys. Adequate and prompt remuneration to inspire our boys. Nigeria can do it.

An average Nigerian mindset is to pass the group stage, but why do we limit our mindset, why can have the mindset to win the world cup just like Germany, France, Spain are?

or we cannot pick 11 players from a population of 189million to conquer the world?

A very fair draw for Nigeria. Play draw with Argentina and Croatia and win Iceland with 3 nil.

What Nigeria Don't know is that only Northern vote or Southwest vote can not determine who rule Nigeria. There are Six Geopolitical region in Nigeria and never in history one region vote win Presidential Election, Goodluck lose Election not because of SouthWest but if you combine the vote of 3Norths + southwest and he won southsouth and southeast and still be able to come close, come 2019 the political equation are going to change because the Northeast, North central, southsouth and Southeast will win the vote for Atiku because even Lagos vote also will be divided because of large number of Igbos and other tribe. For those that think Buhari will re-elect because of Southwest is not possible except he rig the election period.
There are a lot of Igbos in South West that PDP got over 1.8 Million votes that APC won with only 500k votes.
Anambra gave PDP over 600k to render all SW sweat useless.

SE possesses more electoral value than SW. Atiku understands this. This is the reason the Northern PDP are pushing for a SW as National Chairman to create effortless path for SE VP.

Iceland (pot 3)

Pedigree: Iceland are heading to their first World Cup after victory over Kosovo on 9 October secured their place in Russia. This is clearly a golden era for the Icelanders after they reached Euro 2016, where they memorably defeated England in their second-round tie before losing 5-2 against hosts France in the quarter-finals.

Key player: It is difficult to look beyond Everton's Gylfi Sigurdsson. The 28-year-old midfielder scored the opening goal against Kosovo and is a superb striker of the ball from long range.

Sigurdsson was on the scoresheet as Iceland reached the World Cup for the first time

Premier League players: Gylfi Sigurdsson (Everton), Johann Berg Gudmundsson (Burnley).

Championship: Aron Gunnarsson (Cardiff City), Birkir Bjarnason (Aston Villa), Horour Bjorgvin Magnusson (Bristol City), Jon Dadi Bodvarsson (Reading).

Scottish Premiership player: Kari Arnason (Aberdeen).

Who's the boss? Keep smiling. Heimir Hallgrimsson, 50, is a dentist who was in joint charge of the team in France alongside Swedish veteran Lars Lagerback. Hallgrimsson took sole charge after Euro 2016 and has presided over a successful qualification campaign.
funny enough Iceland is a very peculiar country with a peculiar team...The euro 2016 they shocked the world after it was discovered they had about 6 professionals in other fields aside football in their squad...Shockingly there were 4 dentists

Nigeria (pot 4)

Pedigree: This will be Nigeria's sixth appearance at a World Cup - and their third in a row. They have reached the last 16 three times - 1994, 1998 and 2014 - but have never advanced beyond that stage.

Key player: Captain John Mikel Obi, the most experienced member of the squad with 80 caps, will be a key figure for the Super Eagles in Russia. This will be the former Chelsea midfielder's second World Cup - the 30-year-old helped the team reach the knockout stages in 2014 for the first time since 1998. He now plays in China with Tianjin Teda.

John Mikel Obi helped Nigeria win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations

Premier League players: Alex Iwobi (Arsenal), Victor Moses (Chelsea), Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City), Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City), Ahmed Musa (Leicester City) and Ola Aina (on loan at Hull City from Chelsea).

Who is the boss? Gernot Rohr has managed all over the world. From Nice to Gabon, Burkina Faso to Nigeria, the 64-year-old German has extensive knowledge. Rohr played at Bayern Munich and Bordeaux. He then coached Bordeaux when they lost to Bayern in the 1996 Uefa Cup final. Previous managerial jobs also include French club Nantes, Young Boys Berne in Switzerland, Tunisian side Etoile du Sahel and the Niger national team.

Nigeria is not going to do well the games because football is about soccering.. Nigeria hs no strikers on the team.

Football is based on goals. And defense..

we will win Croatia and Argentina before we can win Iceland.

Don't allow names fool you, Croatia and Iceland were in same World Cup Qualifying group and Iceland made it out while Croatia had to go through playoffs

All those Rakitic, Modric, Mandzukic, they are all old men and do not have the fight their names infer. Same goes for the Argentine team

But that Iceland team is compact

so, who scored 4 goals against the likes of Argentina and Cameroon? You abi?

You think this is 1998? Football has gone beyond this idea of one striker, football operates with forwards now, not strikers. Striker is just a means to give the opposition one man to mark eg. If you mark Messi, you neutralise Argentina.. Who will you mark in Nigeria when any of Moses, Kelechi, Iwobi, Mikel can score?

Good stuff. I believe we stand a good chance of qualifying in this group. Our boys just need to stay hungry for success. They should gather all their yearnings and frustration of this Buhari government into their performance. We should be able to win
two and draw one.

I am optimistic that it shall end in praise.

...u sounded reasonable until your memory forgot we qualified under the same Buhari government u have a cancerous bad belle for....stop getting confused by your frustration probably brought on by yourself...

Lol, first to comment indeed! I guess you are using glo? Argentina & Croatia have got a better record than us but we have more stars playing in top clubs than Croatia & Iceland, so we should fight to qualify with Argentina because its next to impossible for them not to do so. A win against Croatia on our first match is the most important thing that will determine our passage!

Sorry to break your bubble but Nigeria doesn't have more stars then Croatia. If you check transfermarkt you will see that Croatia's worth is a little more then 3 times that of Nigeria. Nigeria's most valuable players play in Leicester and China, while Croatia's are standard players in Real, Barcelona, Athletico, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Napoli, Juventus, Monaco, Everton, Dynamo Kiev...

But then again, stars don't mean as much as teamwork, as Iceland has shown on the last Euro against England and others.

Don't settle for 2nd place in life my friend, Nigeria can win the world cup if we prepare and have the right mindset, maybe you weren't born during Atlanta USA Olympic were we shocked the world. That spirit should never die, I believe we can, but we don't believe in ourselves.

Finally, so because, the USA hasn't won the world cup, is that a good excuse for us to settle for second place?
