martineverest: They are steps ahead of their consumers. People are gradually shifting from carbonated drinks aka coke et al to freshly made juices and smoothies. Sales from coke will gradually drop and bros has told you to start drinking healthier drinks aka their new product line. Coca Cola will always be there with you Funny though, you need preservatives aka chemicals to keep fresh juice for long. I believe they also make pulpy. 1 Like |

martineverest: Nope. What's he did is professionally commendable. He can't do that to a new brand on the stable but coke? Oh yes. Coke is an institution on its own. 80% of its consumers are hooked on it. It's like sacking the makers of cigarettes for allowing the surgeon generals warning on its packs. Consumers will always stay loyal. |

What is the difference between Coke and those other ones? Same, same. If it is not fruit, it is not fruit. Buy your orange by the road side. That is the real fruit!!! |

@martineverest You are completely right and no one should sway your thinking. These big companies with localized operations have very terrible Public Relations personnel and agencies. They usually believe that the product sells itself and so, no comment can damage their sales. What Mr. Marketing Manager has done there is to discourage we Nigerians from patronizing coke/fanta/sprite and while many argue that it was done to sell their Five Alive products, he has also opened the channel for juice competition - helping in marketing the likes of Chi (Which Cocacola owns a large share) and many other juice companies. It almost seems like no problem but, Cocacola makes almost 80% of their profits from selling coke/fanta/sprite till date. It is very criminal to allow this kind of headline go out to the public. It is a press conference and unveiling of new Five Alive products, comments should be entirely focused on juice and not carbonated products - except if Mr. Marketing Manager was referred to as the Marketing Manager of Five Alive and not Cocacola. That's why companies get different Brand/Marketing Managers for different products. This is simple PR 101. You don't need to go to school to learn this. Vigorously protect what brings you money! Shame! |
