Lol. An award is given to the best for a period - which Ronaldo deserves 100%. There's no coach that is happy playing against Messi. Not because he can score goals but because he can create the chances that Ronaldo can only dream of. This is not being sentimental. With Messi's poor running last season, he created the highest number of goal chances amongst the top 5 leagues. Goals run dry (reason why Ronaldo is sweating this season) but Messi is not - even though he's experiencing a drought too.

Also, Remember Messi achieved his balloon d'or consistently with players like Xavi, Iniesta, Pirlo, Robben, Ribery, Buffon, Ibra, Rooney, Eto etc at the peak of their careers. Ronaldo is winning it with only Neymar at his peak. That should tell you something.

In terms of flair and skill moves, nobody is better than Ronaldinho no doubt. But that's about as good as it gets for him. Ronaldinho was world-class from 2004 - 2007. Messi has finished in the world's top 2 for 11 straight years (2007-2017). Now let that sink it.
Football isn't about having the best trick moves, otherswise the likes of Okocha, Robinho & Nani would have been the best players in the world.
Ronaldinho is not even placed on the same tier as Zidane or the original Ronaldo, nevermind Messi or Maradona.
And don't say there are no players in this generation, Messi & Ronaldo just make the rest look very ordinary.
Xavi, Iniesta, Zlatan, Auguero, Neymar,Hazard, Robben, Ribery, Lewandoski, Rooney, D.Silva, Sanchez, Ramos, Pique, Alves. I could go on and on.......
And Messi has played with/against virtually every name you mentioned up there.


That's where you are getting it wrong. Football is about the skills, that magic Ronaldinho does is what makes football, football. Not just goal scoring and winning awards. If Ronaldinho is playing against your team, you will still enjoy what he does against your players. He is the epitome of what football is, fun!

Befor we complain about this award .if not Ronaldo who deserves it .

Football is about everything, passes, dribble, scoring .creating chances .most people here don't watch laliga

most people don't even watch Madrid many barca fans only watch barca .

many madrid fans only watch Madrid .

many premier league fans only watch premier league .

So when we argue here all I see is sentimental Bullsh!t

But in football u improvise .Ronaldo is also creating chances but benzima and bale will always fall hand

...this Ronaldo scoring happens because FIFA start giving this awards base on goals and goals also gives u trophy . he stops dribbling and focus on what matters most and it pays off .have u asked urself why bale is not in d top three even benzima , are they not realmadrid players .so its not just d club Ronaldo is a hard working player .same thing with messi.

How can u tell me .Messi was 4-1 and Ronaldo reached 5-5 at 32 years and u think his award winings arr fluke .?? let's see what messi will do at 32.

We need to stop being bias and accept the fact the guy is good and body movement is no longer necessary , it was before but Ronaldo produce new evolution in football that is ....goals matters more than dribble and body movement


Come to think it this season no one is doing well except salah of Liverpool .d best is still Messi and Ronaldo so until we see good talent .messi and Ronaldo will take it again .
