Established in the spring of 1966 in Alberta, University of Calgary is an internationally acclaimed Canadian university with a comprehensive background in research-intensive programs. With an estimated 50 research institutes and centers; 60 programs and 150 degrees in a composition of 14 faculties, four of the University of Calgary campuses are set through the Calgary city with one other planted in faraway Doha Qatar. The University of Calgary was originally an arm of the University of Alberta from 1944. It however attained autonomous status in 1966 and was branched out into an exclusively independent university which currently harbors about 30,900 students and over 1800 academic staff, and have had more than 170,000 students now alumni gone through it walls in the last five decades. UCalgary’s main campus is laid out distinctly on 200 hectares northwest of the sunny city of Calgary overlooking the beauties that abides across the surrounding Rocky Mountains.

RANKING

Ranked highest in both Canada and North America and spotted at #12 on the global scale, University of Calgary made it into the top 50 universities that are less than 50 years in the 2016 QS 50 under 50.
In 2017, in the Times Higher Education ranking, UCalgary was pegged at 8th nationally and 195th worldwide. It was also listed in the top 200 most globally oriented universities in the world and as a Technology Challenger by the Times Higher Education.
Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, which is reputed for ranking world universities on their sustainable presence on the internet, ranked the University of Calgary in the top 100 globally, securing a spot at 99th in the world. It came 63rd in the North America category and 6th in Canada.

ADMISSION

At the University of Calgary, course of study are open to all qualified students. The language of instruction is English except in certain courses.
Undergraduate Admission
Prospective students can be admitted into undergraduate program through the Canadian High School Admission process which requires the Alberta Grade 12 graduation, or equivalent. For applicants without Canadian high school background, the International High School Admission allows applicants completing an American-based high school curriculum anywhere in the world for admission consideration based on several evaluations including a SAT or ACT. However, applicants from other countries except the US may be exempted from presenting a SAT or ACT. University of Calgary may also consider for undergraduate admission applicants transferring from another Post-Secondary Institution or an Adult Student or Second-Degree students.
Graduate Admission Applicants for graduate programs must hold a four-year baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Evaluations are undertaken on every degree and grades from other institution for their equivalence to those of the University of Calgary. For doctoral program, a master’s degree or equivalent is required for admission.
All applicants for undergraduate and graduate admission must demonstrate English language proficiency

GENERAL ADMISSION PROCEDURES
Students who wish to be considered for admission to UCalgary must complete the following steps:

• Complete an Application for Admission. The Application for Admission is obtainable online at www.applyalberta.ca/pub/app.process.asp. International students can equally access the online application at www.ucalgary.ca/future-students/undergraduate/apply
• Pay the application fee. Applicant completing admission applications are required to pay a nonrefundable $145.00 application fee for international applicants and $125.00 for Canadian residents by the application deadline.
• Submit required documentation (e.g., official transcripts, English language proficiency requirements, etc.) All required documents must be received before application deadline. International applicants presenting documents which are in a language other than English are required to submit alongside an English translation of the original document.

Incomplete applications or those submitted without payment of the necessary application fee will not be treated. Successful applicants who are deemed qualified would receive a notification of acceptance and would be requested to accept the offer of admission prior to registering courses. A one-time admission deposit fee of $500.00 is required to be paid by all successful applicants offered admission by the deadline indicated in the offer of admission.

Undergraduate Tuition
Listed in the table below is the undergraduate tuition for the University of Calgary effective from September 1st, 2017. Courses offered via distance learning method or outside the campus may have a different tuition charges attached aside the general rates. Importantly, note that these fees are assessed based on the level of course.

Graduate Tuition
Students in the Masters and Doctoral program are assessed tuition fee per annum. For thesis-based degree (MSc and PhD) all tuition are pro-rated across a four year term.
