The rate at which updates are rolling out to Whatsapp these days are quite impressive I must say and there's no sign of it stopping anytime soon.
According to some reports I saw on twitter, a new update is coming to WhatsApp Web/desktop version that will allow you reply to a group message privately and also use the PiP features. Unfortunately this mode is only available for Android Oreo Devices (for the mobile version)
According to Wabetainfo, this update will be available for WhatsApp Web/Desktop version soon. At the moment, it's undergoing development. It's expected that users of the web version will see this new feature in the near future, hopefully in 2018.
