Pls comprehend matters before making conclusion. He claimed he was overcharged by Gtbank (about 700m+) and called the notice of Gtbank to it after he did an audit to his account. Gtbank looked at the books and said he was wrongfully charged about 500m+. He requested for his money back with a 22% interest (which was the percentage the bank gave him as interest on loan) but the bank said they can only give him a 7% interest on the 500m+. Since they couldn't reach common ground, Innoson charged them to high court, and won. In fact the verdict was they pay him 2b+ Gtbank not satisfied went to appeal court and lost again, making it increase to 4b+ so they went to the Supreme Court.
He didn't loan the bank any money, he was overcharged and that's his right, let's not be sentimental here, this is cooperate corporate fraud, and if we tribalise this issue, I pity corporate governance in Nigerian. No wonder investors are running out.
I can't begin to imagine how many people banks have defrauded all in the name of excess bank charges which are undue, and they would claim YoY profit on excess.

I think we have allowed tribal reasoning cloud our arguments here; this isn't about Igbo vs Yoruba - its about possible oppression, and theft, which can happen to anyone. Imagine a businessman of yoruba extraction having a genuine claim on the Customs and GTB, and being harassed this way . . .

By attacking yoruba people, Igbo people here have diverted attention from what this really is; likewise, by attacking Igbo people, yoruba people are allowing a more powerful aggressor get away with intimidation and possible fraud.

As an ex-bank employee, I've pondered over this situation over and over, and still can't understand why GTB is acting this way, inspite of judgements against it, and cannot figure out why. Not like I believe Innoson 100%, but hey, he has court judgements backing him up.

Igbo people don't have such time. We do not dwell in things like this. Since you have started it, we may consider joining. But for now, I'm very sure innoson will come out victorious, he has won the case several times he with win again. He is a very disciplined and principled man. Sorry, efcc should provide a copy of the invitation! Innoson has denied ever being invited, because the case was struck out in the court.

I'm not singling out your response, I'm actually calling out both sides of the divide. This case worries me cos something similar happened to my brother and his friend recently. They got into a deal with someone wealthier and more powerful, who defaulted on her part, owed them money and still intimidated them with a corrupt police force and judiciary. At the end of the day, they still had to even pay money to this same person who was owing them money.

Innoson's case bothers me, cos from all facts on hand, its similar to what happened to my brother and his friend. Hence, why I don't like how this has become a tribal e-war. Doing business in Nigeria, and with Nigerians is painful stuff.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says the Founder and Chairman of Innoson Motors, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, allegedly hired six truckloads of thugs to attacks its operatives when they went to arrest him at his Enugu residence.

The Spokesman for the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said in a statement that Mr. Chukwuma was arrested after failing to honour a series of invitations in breach of the conditions of his administrative bail.

The statement read in part, “A well known industrialist, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, popularly known by his company’s name, INNOSON, has been arrested by the EFCC. He was picked up at about 11am at his Savage Crescent, GRA Enugu residence on Tuesday, December 19, 2017.

“His arrest followed his refusal to honour invitation by the commission having earlier jumped an administrative bail granted him in a case being investigated by the Capital Market and Insurance Fraud Unit of the commission’s Lagos office.


“Chukwuma, rather than honour the invitation by the EFCC, mobilised six truckloads of thugs pretending to be staff of his company to his residence, where they manhandled EFCC operatives.

“It took reinforcement from the Enugu office of the EFCC to arrest the industrialist who is currently being grilled by a team of investigators
