Essence Of Religious Argument by Adedove(m): 1:59pm On Dec 25, 2017
In the world, there are a helluva of religion. In Nigeria, there are two major religions namely Islam and Christianity. Two forms of arguments do arise within these aformentioned religions: internal and extrenal arguments. Internal argument is that which occur between one or more Islamic faithful such as the issue of whether it is right to allow the helm of one's trouser to touch the ankle or not. Similarly, that which could ensue between one or more christians such as the issue of whether it is right for female to put on trousers or not. The aim of internal argument is to reach a common ground on doctrinal issues.
On the other hand, external argument occurs when one religion claims it is better than the best. The aim of this is to convert the other.
In the world today, both forms of argument have led to homes being broken, relationship being strained and things falling apart. In the past, they led to series of war, but now, it is terrorism especially among the fanatics.
Borrowing the words of my lecturer, Dr. Ogunfo, 'Hypocrisy is the greatest religion.' I very much agree with him on this because most of these religious arguments are raired either to show off or to ease boredom . The same person who argued vehemently in opposition to a particular standpoint now would be caught in the act in the next moment. Religious arguments can get so heated up that parties assault one another, some even develop malice in the process whereas no religion embraces 'malice'. There is fuel scarcity assisted by citizens (self acclaimed xtians or muslims) who hoard the fuel. This is the world we live in.
Finally, rather than engage in religious arguments, let us divert the energy to means by which we can use our religion as a machinery to develop the country. We can always use our religion to help the country. By so doing, we can easily convert or convince anyone. Let it be our new year resolution(s) that churches and mosques shall begin to work towards ensuring, among other things, that there is constant power supply in their various precincts whle gradually extending that to the whole nation and that the potholes in our roads are filled up. Engaging in religious arguments solves no problem!

God bless us!
God bless Islam!
God bless Christianity!
God bless Nigeria!
Merry xmas!
