He is the only black man and the only true African man to have won it. Mahfouz who won it in 1988 was Arab and Coatzee who won it in 2003 is an Afrikaner man. 1 Like |

And where do we have our educational system there after _zero. why because since then our educational system is not geared towards a particular goal of achievement where are the likes of Professor Chike Obi and Professor (Mrs ) Grace Alele Williams today; world renowned great mathematicians of those days. Where are the likes of Chinua Achebe? As at today, no Nigerian University is among the 1st one thousand in the world the reasons are not far fetched there are more than 85% of unrelated courses in Nigerian Universities that is why I use to refer to Nigerian Universities as glorified secondary schools as nearly all the courses are not geared towards a particular developmental goal of the Nation. I will like to recall, after the end of the second world war in 1945 South Korea, one of the most technologically developed countries in the world today declared then that all university admissions must be 85% intake in science and technology and 15% intake in Korean arts and culture and that they don't need lawyers. See what S/Korea is today, apart from other technological competitiveness in the world today, they remain world's largest ship builder even North Korea because of their technological advancements were able to call the bluff of U S A over the nuclear power achievements. Reverse is the Nigerian case. we have more law graduates than needed in the country. Law graduates are the corrupt Nigerian court judges and law graduates are the defence counsels of corrupt Nigerian politicians and government agency representatives, the thieving Nigerian business men and women. Even Nigerian University administrators are not left out of turning Nigerian Universities into glorified secondary schools. Olawalesadiq:Imagine an illiterate ruling Nigeria. I'm so ashamed of Nigeria as a country. Sometimes i wonder, how can a sane man be proud of such a nuisance as a president of his/her country..God forbid. |

This is the nightmare of the iPods. They wished Achebe could have it.They howl and hollered but it is for the deeply cerebral. |
