A literary scholar describes proverbs as horses which can carry one to the discovery of ideas sought. He added that ‘a relevant proverb throws light on the subject and drives points home’. Another scholar said the same thing in another way: ‘proverbs are horses of speech and if communication is lost, we use proverb to find it’.

There are times you wish you could have some proverbs at your fingertips to spice up or buttress your points but you find yourself at sea, groping in vain as none comes to readily your aid.
