Oguta Lake Holiday Complex, situated in Oguta LGA, 45 mins away from Owerri, is one of the teeming reasons every family should visit Imo State. The fresh water lake is the the second largest natural lake in the country after lake Chad. It is a fine piece of water, being about five miles (8.05 km) long from east to west and a mile and half (2.41 km) wide. With exotic scenes and state of the art recreational facilities that only few can boast, Oguta Lake Holiday Complex is one tourist attraction that brings a lot of crowd to Imo state. The Lake was originally created by the colonials rulers in 1960, but later opened for commercial purposes after, which brought about a lot of development.

One major thing tourist go the complex for is to swim in the magnificent Oguta Lake, which is blue in nature and not salty. The Lake is excellent for swimming and sight seeing since there are no wild sea animals like crocodiles and hippos. Another tourist attraction is the natural confluence of Oguta Lake, which is blue and clear in nature and the Urashi River also in Oguta, which is muddy in outlook. These two bodies of water never mixes up.

(b) Relic of war (mini bunker) constructed by the defunct Biafran Navy during Civic war(actually used as a marine base for Biafra Navy).

Great to see some private investors finally developing tourist resorts around natural wonders as the Oguta Lake.

These are the types of places Nigerians pay through their noses to visit in Kenya,South Africa or Jamaica, then come back to Nigeria and refuse to develop their own. So that Kenyans, South Africans and Jamaicans can also visit Nigeria and have few places to have fun and enjoy the African landscape.

If Rochas wants to claim any credit for the growth of private resort hotels around Oguta Lake, he should dualize the road linking Oguta with the Onitsha - Owerri expressway. In that way, he will make Oguta more easily accessible and faster to arrive at from the airport.

Imo state is the most promising and froward looking state in that region.
