Cliches in English
People tend to use clichés unconsciously and most of us are unaware of quite how often we use them. There are many who claim to dislike clichés and regard them as somehow spoiling the language, but even they would find that they use quite a lot of them, if they stopped to analyse what they and write.

Most individuals dislike clichés because they are overused. Gerald Brenan, the British writer and novelist wrote: The cliché is dead poetry. English, being the language of an imaginative race, abounds in clichés, so that English literature is always in danger of being poisoned by its own secretions.
