On the fourth day of January Twenty Seventeen
Death gave rise to life, life proceeded from death
The coconut shell was broken for the sweet milky white
Life as we know it gave way for life as it ought

To my pen and paper was I married ere you
Prolific yet simple were my creatures
I lived a life of letters, words and criticisms
Giving breathe to continue to all who desired

I was called “Hillz” for thence came my inspiration
I gloried in life, knowledge and keen exposure
I lived carefully and held on to the norms
It was a great life if you looked through my eyes

Then came along the comfortless thief
Stealthily and smiling she raced into my heart
Oblivious of the dangers, in love I fell
But the pain in it was that I fell alone

Today I die happily the martyrs’ death
Or she has stolen all that I ever was
My heart, my name, she took them all
All I am left with is my ever noisy conscience


Phoenix-like, my old self I burn out
And from the ashes rises the mysterious twin
Pen glued back to the flaming fingers once more
