Hitng.com.ng has come across the tragic story of a masquerade that was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state. The masquerade who was unidentified at the time of the tragic accident has been laid to rest.

A photo of the masquerade being taken to the cemetery by other masquerades has surfaced on social media. The photo showed the other masquerades in their work attire as they carried the deceased’s coffin.




In the photo, the masquerades were also seen with palm leaves as they carried the coffin on their way to the cemetery. It is believed that the palm leaves are part of a tradition among masquerades.

It was gathered that the deceased was killed by a hit-and-run driver who was trying to avoid another vehicle while driving on high speed.

The hit-and-run driver reportedly knocked the masquerade down on the Nwaniba Road by Use Offot in Uyo.
