Launched on the 8th of January, 2018, IBKN Online is a brand new education startup that is set to widen access to university education in Africa.

According to the Founders, Oloche Owoicho and Adama Joseph Adama, "it is time to innovate higher education in Africa. It is time to build an education infrastructure for the next generation. The education system we met cannot adequately tackle the crisis we have at hand in Nigeria and Africa. So here lies our solution"

IBKN Online is an online distance learning provider. We partner with accredited universities in Benin Republic to offer their distance learning degree programmes online. We carefully chose reputable institutions as our partners to deliver world class university education.

We have recruited qualified academics and outliers as faculty. Young, passionate and experienced lecturers vetted by our partner universities to teach Bachelor and Masters degree programmes.

Asked if Africa will embrace online education at this time, the Founders said they are not in a hurry and are in for the long term. "We are building this as a legacy for our children's children. We are not after short term success. We are not waiting until everything is ready. Because when everything is ready, there won't be any opportunity for us anymore".

The tuition fees is intentionally made affordable so no African will have any excuses for not being a university graduate. For less than $500 tuition fees a year, the students can push themselves through their studies. Working adults will no longer empty their savings just to earn a degree.

IBKN Online is concerned about the quality of graduates they will produce. "Anything short of competent graduates makes us a failure". The degree programmes are of the highest quality assurance. They have a dedicated team in charge of monitoring of the curriculum and standards. Their university partners also monitors the content delivery.

IBKN Online partners with a US-based education technology company - Afridash to delivery the courses in one of the best learning management systems (LMS) in the market today. A state-of-the-art LMS that is being used by American high schools and universities. The LMS is custom made to suit the poor electricity and internet access in Africa.

Asked where IBKN Online will be in the next 10 years, Adama replied 'we will become a fully licensed university that will still retain our online distance learning degree programmes and some on campus programmes. Think RDI UK and Arden University. Something better than them.

Their passion about the future of university education in Africa is contagious. They are optimistic about what the future holds. "We know this journey may not be smooth but we are prepared to patch the potholes, seal the 'shitholes' (apology to Donald Trump) of Africa's higher education and create a new future for working adults in Africa".
